Aidan had tried him multiple times while in the tub—not that he was going to share that piece of knowledge with his cousin—and it had gone straight to voice mail.
“Aides,” Blake said when he answered. “Sorry, I missed your calls. We were swimming.”
“Asshole. It's freezing here.”
“Well,” he said, sounding completely void of pity, “that’s what happens when you chase tail back to winter.”
He was going to hammer the little shit next time he saw him for calling Lilytail.“I’ll let that go for now.”
Blake laughed. “What’s up? Cocktail hour is starting soon.”
Aidan frowned. “It’s only lunchtime in Hawaii.”
“Exactly. Hurry up.” Blake laughed again.
“Is Amelia with you?” He got straight to the point because, obviously, they had important things to get to.
Fuckers.
There was a long silence. Aidan even checked his phone for coverage, then put it back in his ear. “Blake?”
“Hang on,” his cousin replied.
Muffled sounds.
“She’s gone back to Philadelphia,” Blake finally said as the elevator doors opened. Aidan took a step away and waved the people on.
“When?”
“When we arrived back at the hotel. A friend of hers was waiting for her,” Blake said. “I thought she was coming back with us.”
Aidan rubbed his jaw. The only friend Amelia had on the island was the guy who had broken her heart.
“Did you meet this friend?”
“No. Well, we saw him. She seemed happy to see him. Let out a little cry and ran over to him,” Blake said. “More than friends, obviously, as there was snogging involved.”
Jesus.
“Blake. That was the guy who broke her fucking heart,” Aidan cried. “You let her go with him?”
Silence.
“Dude, she’s a grown woman. And he wasn’t a small guy.”
“Neither are you!” Aidan said louder.
“Fair.”
Lord help him.
Blake wasn’t wrong, though. Ameliawasan adult, and both he and Logan were way too protective of her. But he’d never seen Amelia so upset over a man, and now she was flying back to Philadelphia with him.
Aidan still had a weird feeling about this.
He would try ringing her tomorrow. Right now, he needed to see Lily and hold her in his arms.
