“I can’t—”

“It’s your boss, isn’t it? Matt. Did he fucking touch you? If he did, we can file a report and make sure he never touches anyone again.”

Oh, my God.

How did Lily tell her the marks between her legs were made by her future brother-in-law?

She didn’t.

Worse, they were probably still forming and going to get even more obvious over the next few hours.

Did she have them on her neck? Her breasts? Her arms?

Oh, God. She was going to look like she’d been beaten up, and how on earth did she explain it had brought her pleasure?

Lily did bruise easily, but it had never occurred to her it would be an issue.

Shit.

She couldn’t have sex bruises in Emma’s wedding photos. She needed Arnica cream and fast.

But where?

She didn’t know the shops in Hawaii.

Worse, she couldn’t even lower her eyes to see how bad it was down there, or they’d fall off this damn board.

“Did he rape you?” Emma asked, bringing Lily’s attention back to her friend.

Who?

Oh, Matt?

“Stop. No one raped me. I don’t even know what you’re talking about.”

“Are you sure?” Emma’s tone was tentative, and she felt terrible for lying, but not everything needed to be shared with her friends. Some things were private between two people.

Even if those two people were never doing those things ever again.

“I’m not self-harming and no one has sexually abused me,” Lily said. “Also, I’m not moving to Philly. Dad needs me and he doesn’t have much longer.”

“So, where are the bruises from?”

“I fell over at the airport. Landed on my suitcase. You know how easily I bruise, so it was likely that.”

Then she prayed that there were no bruises anywhere else on her body.

AN HOUR AND A HALFlater, they all made their way back up the beach and grabbed their beach towels.

Kristen flopped onto the sand and fell back. “I’m dead.”

Lily felt her legs shaking. She was so tired. But quickly wrapped the towel around herself to hide the bruising.

“I can’t believe how much of a workout that was. It looks like the laziest sport on the planet, but my God,” Harper said, dropping down beside Kristen.

“My legs are killing me.” Emma laughed, drying off. “Not the smartest move before walking down the aisle. Hopefully, I won’t stumble.”
