Stupid.

Maybe she was just too practical.

Or poor.

“Nothing. Doesn’t matter,” Lily said and began to walk off.

Aidan caught her arm and tugged her back.

Right up against his chest.

His Prada-clad chest.

“Explain.” His voice was low.

“Have you got the Arnica?” Lily asked, hoping to distract him.

“You don’t like my top?”

“I have marks on my inner thighs,” she said, hoping to distract him.

“You play a mean game,” he growled playfully. Her cheeks flushed as Aidan dropped his mouth to hers, their lips touching. “Show me.”

When he let her go, she took a step back and lifted the white sheer sundress she was wearing over her pink bikini.

“Okay, sunshine, let’s do this properly.” Aidan scooped her up and Lily let out a squeal.

“I can walk.”

“And I can carry you. You’ll remember I had you wrapped around my body up against the wall last night.”

Lily pressed her face into his chest and mumbled, “Yes, you are very strong.”

She did remember. She remembered very clearly and had been thinking about it several times today.

His strength was incredible.

Lily figured he worked out a lot. He had to. But then again, all the Dufort men were large and strong men.

Aidan placed her on the edge of the bed and crouched down in front of her.

Then pushed her legs open.

She stifled a moan, focusing on what he was seeing. It was the first thing she’d done when she got back to her room.

On her thighs were little dark bruises the size of his fingers.

“Hmm. Let’s see. Shall we play doctor-patient?” Aidan smirked.

“Let’s not. Hand me the cream, please,” Lily said, holding out her hand.

Aidan slapped it away. “They are not too bad. Let me see what I can do.”

Lily bent over. “Not bad? There are fingerprints between my legs, Aidan.”

He smiled.

Smiled!
