“Todd,” I say when he doesn’t look up. He’s laughing with the man and does a double-take when he sees me. His face pales for a moment, then hardens.

“Isabelle?” Todd clears his throat, and it sounds weird. “Isabelle. Nice to see you.”

Nice to see me? Like I’m his tennis partner.

What the hell?

“Lyall, this is Isabelle,” he says, gesturing at both of us in that casual introduce yourself way.

“Nice to meet you, Lyall.” I reach out my hand as a prominent presence appears behind me.

“Hey, Todd. Good to see you introducing your fiancé to your date,” Decker says as my hand is still connected to Lyall’s.

He snags it away as Todd’s eyes turn dark and angry, directed at Decker. I want to tell him that’s not a smart move, although Lyall’s next words grab my attention.

“Did you sayfiancé? You’re marrying this girl?” Lyall asks, appearing annoyed.

I lower my brows.

Because that was rude. I’m about to say something when Lyall continues, tilting my entire world on its axis.

“You were going to take me home and fuck me, and you areengaged?” Lyall screeches.

My hand flies to my mouth and I step back. Decker grabs my shoulders and steadies me.

“Who the fuck are you?” Todd growls at Decker.

“What did he say?” I ask, almost in a whisper.

The wheels in my mind start spinning as Todd stares at me in annoyance. Me. Like I’m the one to blame here.

I glance at Lyall, who is slamming his napkin on his plate and cursing.

He’s gay.

Todd is gay and marrying me?

I turn slowly, Decker's hands falling from my shoulders. I shake my head as I stare at his chest.

“Isabelle. Wait,” Todd calls out to me, but I almost don’t care what he has to say. It’s the man standing in my way who has once again hurt me.

I lift my eyes. “You knew.”

Decker nods.

I know he’s set this up, and I want to slam my fists into his chest and scream at him. Doesn’t he know what this means? It’s wrecked everything.

Fury blinds me, and the next minute I shove him. Then do it again. And again. The safe, muscular chest that I laid my head on all those scary nights is now my enemy.

Decker lets me go a little longer, and then he grabs my wrists and tugs on them until I look at him. “Izzy, you’re angry with the wrong man.”

Lyall rushes past, cursing at us, and then he’s gone as Todd rounds the table.

“Who the fuck are you? Get your hands off my fiancé.”

“That’s rich,” Decker laughs.

When a server arrives and asks us to please calm down, I watch Todd speaking to her and something clicks.
