“We’ll agree to those terms.” Again, no hesitation from Ivan. Holding his hand out, we shook on it.

This man was up to something. A forty-percent cut was steep. He would barely keep his men paid after we took our cut. Hell, I don’t know if he would even be able to keep his business afloat if we took nearly half his profits at the end of the day. Yet, he didn’t seem worried about that. Something wasn’t right.

Feeling a soft push from Angel, I reluctantly let go of her, looking at her with a raised brow. “One minute with Igor, that was a part of the deal.” She seemed a little too excited about this.

I watched as Angel tied her hair up in a messy ponytail before reaching into my back pocket and fishing out my switchblade. “You won’t mind if I borrow this would you, anh?” She asked with a saccharine smile that would send chills to anyone on the receiving end of it.

The twisted look in her eyes made the darker flecks of her coffee brown eyes sharpen with a precision of deadliness. She was a deadly predator with her prey in hand, and I couldn’t be happier for her. A natural born killer, even if she did deny it.

“What’s mine is yours, lisichka. No need for borrowing.” Not like I was fond of that knife, just another in my pocket that was easily replaceable.

I watched her with excited eyes, hiding my proud smirk as I watched her approach the quivering Igor. The deadly look in her eyes, and the way she carried herself was such a turn on. Beautiful and deadly; her strength well hidden under an innocent exterior.

CHAPTER 18

Angel

Icould have been mercifuland let him go, but something just ticked in me. Questions filled my mind as I approached Igor with the knife twirling between my fingers. What if I wasn’t Nikolai’s wife? What if I hadn’t stopped him? What if I didn’t stand up for myself? How far would he have taken things? How far would he use his influence or power?

As I approached Igor, his father meekly stepped aside to allow me access to the cowering fool. “I thought you wanted a moment with me.” The devious smirk on my face struck fear into his eyes. “Don’t worry, I don’t bite.” Without warning, I pulled my hand back and backhanded him, hard.

Igor stumbled a step back upon impact, his head whipping off to the side. “Though you’re going to wish that’s all I would do to you.” Reaching out, I grabbed his wrist and pulled him towards me, kneeing him in the gut then using my foot to stomp the back of his knee, forcing him to the ground.

Then, I slammed his hand down onto the coffee table and stabbed the knife into his wrist. His short scream filled the room for a moment before he pleaded with his father to make me stop and to make me pay. Of course, no one dared to twitch a muscle in Igor’s direction.

Sighing disappointedly, I gave him a hard kick where no man should ever be struck. Maybe I should have asked for longer than sixty seconds because time went by too fast, and I still had things I wanted to do to him. I wanted him to grovel at my feet until I was satisfied. How unfortunate, for me, not him.

I didn’t even bother with pulling the knife out of his wrist, leaving him pinned there while I made my way back to Nikolai’s side. Huffing, I leaned back into Nikolai’s embrace, tensing for a split second when I felt something hard press against my behind.

Did he get turned on from watching me just now?

Slowly, I pressed myself against him, rolling my hips teasingly and smirking a little when I heard him suck in a sharp breath.

“Leave, our business here is done. Stepan or one of my other brothers will reach out to you tomorrow to work out the details of your protection.” Nikolai was still mad. I could still feel his tense muscles as well as his suffocating rage.

“Thank you for reconsidering, you won’t regret it, and I’ll assure that my son will be punished for his actions. Have a good night.” Ivan was quick to scurry out of the room, leaving his guards to free Igor and drag his sorry ass out.
