After a quick wash, I did a quick face of makeup. Then, I threw on a little black dress with some silver heels before rushing downstairs with a small purse in hand and snagging the keys to Nikolai’s Aston Martin DBS on the way to the garage filled with luxury cars that would be any car person’s wet dream. I wasn’t one to care about cars too much, but I have to admit his Aston was one sexy thing. Also, it was my favorite amongst his cars, and at this point, with how often I drove it, it might as well have been mine.

It didn’t take me long—speeding really takes off time—to pick Hanna up after calling her. Then, the two of us were at White Out in mere minutes, and we—me—were wasted in seconds.

“The audacity of that man, I swear. ‘Go to the bedroom’ like who the fuck does he think he is ordering me around like that. Like fuck does it concern me if he’s throwing his ass down with his brother like that over my stupid file and dignity or some shit.” My words were blurring in my buzzed mind; the words were just flying out of my loose lips uncontrollably.

“Honey, I think you need to—”

With a soft scowl, I slapped Hanna’s hand away when she tried to take my drink away from me. “I’m fine. I don’t need to do anything but drink, relax, and dance a lot.”

This time, Benjamin spoke up, who I totally forgot was even here after so many shots. “I don’t think that’s a good idea, Nikolai isn’t—”

“I don’t give a fuck about Nikolai right now, he’s not in control of me god damn it. I’ll do whatever the fuck I want whenever I want.” There is a moment and time for everything, and him trying to pull what he did with me earlier upset me greatly. “Who does he think he is, dismissing me like that? I am his fucking wife, not some damn booty call.”

I was livid. Livid and drunk—a very bad combination.

Whelp. Fuck it.

CHAPTER 26

Nikolai

“Yo, she just took yourcar.” Arseny noted as his eyes followed something—probably my car—out the window.

“Not the best time, Arseny.” Alexei huffed.

Taking a deep breath, I pulled my phone out and sent a message to Benjamin to keep Angel safe and make sure she got back home in one piece whenever she was done with her little fit. “Hope you’re happy Lev.” I hadn’t bothered to budge from my spot from where I had some words with Angel, still keeping my back to everyone and my eyes fixated on the display cabinet before me. “I’m going for a swim, you all know where the door is, either out or to your rooms.”

I hadn’t fully calmed down, only enough to where I didn’t want to pummel Lev’s face in. But I was afraid if I looked at him right now then my rage would come back and the five of us would just end up like before. I’d deal with the aftermath later once everyone had calmed down, or at least until I wasn’t feeling a tad murderous towards my own brother.

“Kolya, I think you should stay.” Stepan’s nasally voice piped up, reminding me of the fact I had busted his nose just minutes ago.

“No, I don’t think that would be wise. I am sorry about your nose, have Alexei fix it before you lose all hope in the looks department.” I snarked with a quick smirk and a dry chuckle.

“Don’t worry about it, chicks dig the roughed up look. But I mean it, you should stay... There’s something you should see.” From playful to serious, whatever Stepan wanted my attention for had to be worth it for him to push for my presence to remain.

“I know all that’s in that file, I know my own wife enough. I don’t need to read it all from some stupid sheets of paper.” I trusted her enough to know she wouldn’t have hidden anything from me. She had been forthcoming about everything so far. Well, everything except the matter about her issue with her back.
