By the time the band had finished playing and the bell had rung for last orders, I was so fucking happy I felt like my heart would burst.

“Jordan? Are you ready to go?” Theo looked at me with a little smile on his face, and I felt so giddy and high and warm and full of all these emotions I couldn’t even contain— Oh.Oh.

Love.

I loved Theo. I loved him so much.

He needed to know. Right now. Even if he didn’t say it back. I couldn’t not tell him.

“Yeah. Let’s go.” I practically dragged him out of the pub, making him laugh, and the sound just made me even giddier. I was a fucking mess. I was walking on clouds.

Glancing around me, I spotted an alleyway just past a kebab shop. That would do nicely. Also, we could get kebabs afterwards. Romantic as fuck.

“Come over here a minute.” I led him past the kebab shop to the alleyway entrance. He raised a brow.

“You want me to go down a dark alleyway in this part of London? We could get stabbed.”

“If we survive, I might stab you with my sword later.”

He smirked at me. “Now there’s an offer I can’t refuse.”

I opened my mouth to deliver a comeback but then closed it again. This wasn’t the time. I needed to be serious, to let him know that I meant every word I was about to tell him.

Pulling him into the alley, close enough to the entrance for the streetlights to illuminate our faces, I backed him up against the wall, lifting my hand to his jaw. His smile dropped as my thumb stroked across his skin, and his beautiful blue eyes studied me intently.

“Theo?”

“Yeah?”

“I—I want to tell you something, and I want you to know that I mean every word.” I licked my lips and then took a deep breath. This was it. “I love you, Theo. I think I’ve loved you for a long time.”

He stared at me in stunned disbelief, and then his hand curved around the back of my neck, yanking me into him. His voice was choked up when he replied, his lips skimming over mine. “Oh, Jordan. I love you so much. It’s the same for me. I’d been falling for you for so long, and then you were mine, and I let myself fall all the way.”

“Fuck. Theo. Fuck.” I couldn’t think, couldn’t breathe. I kissed him, frantic. “My chest hurts. What I feel for you is so much. I think my heart’s going to explode.”

“Breathe, baby.” He caressed my face, kissing me slowly and softly until I could breathe again. “I love you. I’m so happy you’re mine.”

“I’m so happy you’re mine. You’re everything to me. I want to, I don’t know, carve your name into my heart or something.”

“That’s quite disturbing.” He kissed me again.

“Yeah. Probably.”

“No probably about it. Can we leave this dark alleyway now so I can get you back to the hotel and show you how much I love you?”

I grinned. “It’s like you can read my mind. But we’re getting celebratory kebabs first.”

Neither of us noticed the figure at the bus stop on the other side of the road, holding up a phone.

THEO

When I blinked my eyes open, the first thing I registered was the head of brown hair resting on my shoulder and the arm slung around my waist. I smiled, wrapping my own arm around my sleeping boyfriend, stroking down the smooth skin of his back and pressing a kiss to his head. I fumbled for my phone to check the time, knocking over the half-empty bottle of lube that I’d left out on the side, and it dropped to the table with a loud clatter. Freezing in place, I peered down at Jordan, but he didn’t stir. Good. He needed his sleep. It had been a long day yesterday and an even longer night, and both of us were sore and tired and very, very satisfied.

I blinked. And then blinked again.

Eighteen missed calls.
