“Friday the 13th?” I guessed.

Next to me, Will pointed at my throat and then flashed his fangs with a grin. “I’m the one who got to her first.”

I bit down on my lip to hide my smile at the way Knox growled, pulling me into him. “She’s mine. Get your own fucking girl.”

“Already did.” He wrapped his arm around Katy’s waist, and this time, I did smile, glad that Will was feeling comfortable enough to tease Knox…even if it wasn’t the best idea.

I elbowed Knox in warning, and he leaned down to me, his mask knocking against my cheek. “You’re mine.Onlymine.” Raising his head, he turned back to Will. “You’re up next. Just know that the only reason I’m letting this happen is Elena.”

He rolled his eyes. “Yes. I know.” Then he sighed. “Thanks, though. I—we appreciate it.”

Knox’s voice softened. “You’re welcome. Get up there.”

Will and Katy disappeared behind the DJ booth, and I stared up at Knox, wishing I could see his face behind the mask. “What’s going on?”

“You’ll find out in a minute. Be patient.” I justknewhe was smirking.

Instead of segueing into another song, the DJ cut the music to a collective cry of outrage from the crowds.

There was a screech of feedback from the mic, and suddenly, Will’s voice was booming from the speakers. “Hatherley Hall students, we have a Halloween treat for you!”

“Go prefects!” someone screeched from right behind me as Will paused dramatically.

“This song was originally written and composed by me, Katy Peterson, and Elena Greenwood. The version you’re about to hear was produced by myself, with credit to Knox Ashcroft. Enjoy.”

As cheers filled the air, Will stepped back, and the DJ took his place. A low, heady beat filled the cavernous space, and then the melody kicked in.

“Is that our song? Knox, it’s our song!”

“Yeah, it is. Remixed by William, with the hook taken from ‘Lost in the Moment.’ What do you think?”

“I can’t believe this. This is amazing. Fuck, it sounds so good, doesn’t it?”

He nodded. “Yeah, it does. Notice how William gave me credit?”

I cocked my head, staring at him. “You made him do that, didn’t you?”

“Maybe, maybe not.” He gripped me around the waist and then spun me around so that my back was to his front. Lowering his hands to my hips, he began to move us to the music. “Yeah…I like this song. Like the way you move to the beat.”

“Mmm.” I tipped my head back against him. “Something about you just pulls me in/ I can’t explain, where do I begin/ I’m lost in your eyes, your smile, your touch—”

“You wrote those lyrics about me, didn’t you, baby?”

I repeated his words from earlier. “Maybe, maybe not.”

His hands slid around my waist as he ground his hardening cock against me. “I know I’m your muse.”

“Oh, really? What else do you know?” I pressed back into him, rolling my hips.

“I know that ever since I laid eyes on you tonight, all I could think about was taking you into my bedroom, stripping you out of this dress, and fucking you until you can’t walk. Then doing it all over again on the tombstones, down in the dark, maybe with that spreader bar. Or maybe with me tying you down. I know how much you like it, baby.”

Fuuuck. “Knox,” I moaned. “What’s stopping you?”

“Obligations. As one of the hosts, I need to be seen at the party. It’s in my honour, after all. A double celebration—Halloween and me finally moving in here.” He ran his hand up my stomach, his thumb rubbing teasingly over the underside of my breast. “I never thought I’d say this, but I’ll miss being at home in a way. No. Fuck. Okay, the truth is, I’ll missyou. But I’m going to make the most of every minute I can get with you, even though I’m back here.”

It struck me then that we were here in the crypts, surrounded by his friends, and he was openly dancing with me. He’d even told Will I was his, and now here he was, talking about what would happen now that he was boarding at Hatherley Hall.

I wanted him to be mine so, so much, and maybe, just maybe, he felt the same way too.
