Sammy came into our room and sat on my bed. I grabbed my stuff for a shower but kept glancing at Sammy, but she seemed quieter than usual. I was about to ask her if everything was okay when she spoke up.

"Can I tell you something?" She asked, her voice dripping with apprehension.

"Of course," I said reflexively. Sammy had never been nervous about talking, so this must have been serious.

She took a deep breath. "Frankie and I...were kinda together." She finally said after what felt like an eternity of silence.

I couldn't believe my ears. Frankie and Sammy? It didn't make sense; he was my brother and she was my best friend! But then again, maybe this was why he had been avoiding her all weekend? Either way, it was clear that there were some feelings between them and he now had a girlfriend. Neither one of them would cheat, there was no way they would.

I nodded slowly as I tried to process this information. "When...um when did this happen?" I finally asked hesitantly. It was wrong to pry into her business like this but at the same time, if Frankie cheated, I would have a big problem with that.

Sammy looked up shaking her head. "It was a few months ago," she whispered. "Before he got with Rachel."

I let out a deep breath. "Good."

"I would never touch someone that was with someone." She picked at the comforter. "I'm jealous and trying so hard not to be. It wasn’t serious and it was before Rachel, so why does my heart clamp up when I see him? I mean, we were talking for a while. I thought we had something."

"Ugh, I can't even be mad at you for being with my brother when you look all sad." I joined her on the bed and put my arm around her. "Look, this whole thing will blow over.”

At least that explained why Frankie was avoiding her. He either had feelings for her or he didn't want to be around someone he had been with in the past. Since Frankie was super loyal when it came to girls, it was probably the latter.

"Thanks. I'm gonna get some sleep." Sammy hugged me, then got up and crawled into her bed.

Somehow I had managed to fall asleep rather quickly. Of course that didn't mean I wanted to get up early. Mornings were meant for birds, not me.

I rolled over and turned off my alarm. I was sure Frankie was up and ready to go, so I should have been in a rush to get up. My stomach was a little unsettled, so I told myself I would just lay in bed for a bit.

"Mal," Sammy spoke sharply. "Are you getting up? It's nearly seven."

I groaned, "I just want to lie here."

"You have to get up. We are going on a hike, remember?" Sammy yanked the covers.

I sat up and looked at her. "How could I forget?"

The door creaked open and Matty poked his head in. "Did you manage to wake the princess?"

"I'm working on it," Sammy sighed.

I grabbed my pillow and tossed it at Matty, he slammed the door before the pillow hit him. He whistled as he walked away.

"I'm up!" I yelled and stood.

I quickly brushed my hair and teeth and put on a little bit of makeup. I slipped on some leggings and a cute T-shirt and walked into the living room.

"Hey guys," I said as I plopped on the sofa next to Rex.

"Mal, I'm glad you're awake." Rex kissed me on the cheek. "We have to go soon. I think everyone else is almost ready."

"I just have to get my shoes," I said as I stood. I walked across the room to the front door.

I was just about to slip on my shoes when I heard Frankie come in. "How could you do that to me?" Frankie's voice was thick with hurt.

"Frankie, I-."

Shit, this was it. He found out about me hooking up with his best friends. Someone had to have seen us by the fire or in the kitchen. Maybe he saw Rex kiss my cheek. I didn't know how, but somehow he found out.

My heart pounded in my chest as I turned to look at him. His hand was over his heart and his eyes were staring into my soul.
