“Get up. I have a surprise for you,” he commanded, and she looked at him with wide eyes. As she sat up, he grinned when he saw the look of realization come over her face at the presence of the plug still nestled deep within her channel.

“Will you, can I…” she began and he shook his head.

“No. You’ll wear that today to remind you that I own every inch of you. I have a feeling you may need that reminder, considering what I have in mind,” he chuckled and her mouth parted a little in shock.

“Here, put this on,” he said, handing her the clothes he had just created for her. The look of awe on her face warmed his heart. He admired her naked form as she dressed and she looked away bashfully.

Reaching around her throat, he unclasped the collar and allowed it to fall to the floor. He sat down on the bed beside her and passed her the files.

He didn’t say anything for a long time as she read them. He watched her face fall at first, and then saw the anger brewing deep inside her. She looked at him then, furious at his discovery.

“They sent us to the slaughter. Venassathi was never meant to attack us. We were never supposed to survive that battle. With this information, I could skewer President Rayne. That’s why they wanted to kill me. With you by my side, it was only a matter of time before I connected the dots.”

He took her hand in his then, letting her know that she had his full support.

“I’m afraid that looks to be the case. Regardless of if that’s true or not, I want to give you the chance to save your people, to tell them not to attack anyone anymore, to tell them they have no chance if they do. I’ve seen the strength in your eyes and I know how hard you’ve worked to achieve your status as commander on Earth. For that reason, I’m going to strip away your slave status and make you my second in command. I want to make you my deputy commander, Aubrie. Do you accept?”

She was silent for a long moment before he saw her tenacity return with a vengeance.

“I would be happy to, sir,” she whispered quietly, unable to hide the smile of exuberance that quickly overwhelmed her features.

He dressed then in his commanding officer’s uniform as she admired the slim fit of her own. He guided her down to the command center with him, this time with her arm safely in his, rather than her body thrown over his shoulder as he had before. He noticed that her shoulders were held high, her back straight and proud as she once again took on the role she’d worked so hard to attain back on Earth. She was a military commander.

“Men. I’d like to introduce you to Deputy Commander Aubrie Kent,” he began and every one of his men rose and pounded a fist over their hearts. Not a single one murmured a work of dissent.

He’d fought and earned his place as their commander and they trusted him with their lives. They knew he would not lead them wrong, even if he brought a human woman into their ranks.

She nodded her head in greeting toward the men and they bowed their heads in respect.

“I’d also like to remind you all that she’s mine. No one is to lay a hand on her without my explicit permission,” he added with a growl. He watched as she smirked at his public ownership of her. If they were not in full view of the others, he’d spank that sassy response right out of her.

A resounding “yes, sir” sounded throughout the room.

“Set up communications with Earth. It’s high time we gift them the knowledge that they will never win the war against their alien enemies,” he said and the ranks within the command center laughed at his proclamation.

In no time at all, a huge projection screen shown blue at the front of the room. Edagon maneuvered Aubrie so that she stood in the central view, with him directly beside her for support.

A flustered-looking older man finally appeared on screen, clearly surprised to be woken up at whatever time it was over there back on Earth to have a chat with an enemy alien army. Edagon studied the man’s face as he watched him recognize Aubrie beside him.

“President Rayne, it is nice to finally meet your acquaintance in an official capacity,” Aubrie began.

The older man glared back at her, studying her before he hazarded a response.

“Commander Kent, I believe? I had heard varying reports of your location after the battle you led. From deep space, to Minaria, to what appears to be the planet Venassathi now?” Rayne answered. Edagon was distinctly aware the man was skirting around information he already knew, that much was obvious.

“I am distinctly aware of the assassination mission that was attempted on my life, President Rayne,” Aubrie snapped and Edagon had to remind himself to keep his expression blank. He wanted to laugh out loud with pride. This was his woman. His courageous little human.

“Are you also aware that your team of men are currently awaiting interrogation in the Venassathi dungeons, President Rayne? Do you know how easily they were defeated once they arrived here?” she continued and he watched as the old human face drained of color. “I wonder what other information they may know, like the capacity of your campaign fund or the names of who has donated to your many charities…”

She paused for a long moment.

“Cease your attacks outside of your sector. As second in command here on Venassathi, it is well within my right to declare war on your planet. Commander Edagon here beside me has many allies and many weapons that would destroy Earth in a matter of seconds, should you attempt to take my life or any other lives from this moment on. You see, President Rayne, in my time here, I have learned that there are no alien lifeforms that have attacked Earth. We have nothing they want. They don’t need Earth. No one wants it.”

“You’re talking nonsense,” Rayne interjected.

“No, I don’t think so. Earth is the aggressor, which is different from everything we have ever been taught by you and your administration. You’ve lied to us all this time,” Aubrie said, her voice angry, but level and calm despite the war of emotions he knew had to be occurring inside her.

“How could you possibly know this,” Rayne sputtered, his face even whiter than before.
