They were united in their decision to raise their baby, and with Jasper’s strength she knew she wouldn’t waver. Which meant she might very well lose her relationship with her parents.

“I can feel your worry.” Jasper’s hand came up, cupping her cheek, his thumb brushing against the few tears she let fall. “Please don’t cry anymore,Callie baby. Everythingis going to be okay.” She closed her eyes, taking a deep inhale of his spicy scent. He rolled onto his back, bringing her on top of him.

His hands palmed her, kneading her flesh and moving her core against his hard length. He lifted up, capturing her mouth and kissing her until all her worries started to fade away. He expertly maneuvered them until she was sliding down his cock, gasping at how deep he was inside her. He fisted her hair, pulling her head back and arching her spine. “Do what feels good, baby.”

With his help and direction, she found a rhythm, chasing a release she didn’t know she needed. She let go, not caring anymore how she looked on top of him or if she woke up the entire house.

In that moment, nothing mattered except how good he felt, andhow much she needed him.

“Good girl, keep going.I can feel how close you are,” hegrowled low in his throat, something he’d done the last time they’d been together too. It was so primal and hot.

She cried out as she came, swirling her hips as he spilled inside her.

He pulled her down on top of him, hugging her close and moving her hair out of her face. “It’s all going to be okay, I promise.”

“One of these days, I might start holding you to all these declarations.”

“Good.” He kissed her forehead. “Now sleep.” It was like a commandandher body instantlyrelaxedin his holdwhileher eyelidsgrewheavy.

She drifted off to the feel of him nuzzling the side of her neck.

Chapter Thirty-Six

Jasper

They were inside a brand-new SUV with bulletproof glass and every safety feature known to man. His twin had tossed him the keys that morning on his way down the stairs to find Callie some breakfast. When he’d raised his eyebrows in question, Jace had simply shrugged and told him it was a gift for his new nephew. There was no point in arguing; his brother was protective of his pack, and that now included Callie and their baby.

“Whose car is this?” Callie rubbed her hands against the seat, peering into the back. “I haven’t seen it in the garage before.” She’d been driving one of Jace’s extra sedans; Jasper’s truck had been too large for her to navigate the mountain roads between St. Leasing and the house.

Jasper tightened his hands on the wheel, a lie poised on his tongue. At some point though, he was going to have to start telling her the truth; the deceit was piling up and starting to cripple him under its weight. “Uh, it’s yours.”

“What?” She huffed out a laugh. “You can’t be serious.”

He shrugged likean$80,000 SUV wasn’t a big deal. “Jace got it for the baby. It’sa gift.”

“Your brother got the baby a car?” She looked around again, studying the tan interior more thoroughly. “A really nice car I could never in a million years afford? This is too much. I can’t accept this.”

“Nothing matters more to Jace than safety.” That wasn’t a lie, at all. “Certainly not money, and like I said,it was a gift. But if it makes you uncomfortable, I’ll pay him for it.” He reached across the console, taking her hand in his. They could argue about the outrageous gift later; they had more important issues pending. Her father. Their mating. The fact she didn’t know he shifted into a damn wolf at will.

“You nervous?”

“Yes.”

She squeezed his hand, and his heart soared. He was beyond thankful she was allowing him to touch her, to comfort her. He didn’t know what hewould’vedone if she’d shut him out last night.

She was his, even if she didn’t understand that yet.

“He’s going to be so angry with me.”

“You don’t have to tell him yet if you aren’t ready.” He took a right, pulling into campus and onto Linc and Maddi’s street.

“This has been hanging over my head since we found out about the baby.” She moved their joined hands to her stomach. “I don’t want to spend the rest of my pregnancy dreading it.” She smiled, glancing down as his thumb caressed her barely noticeable bump. “I want to enjoy this with you and your family. With the people who are happy for us, who are excited to meet this kid of ours.”

He threw the car in park, putting his palm on her face, turning hertohim. “I’m with you every step of the way, okay?” He waited for her to nod. “Your parents don’t get a say in this. Wedon’t need them.” He kissed her sweet lips, whispering against them, “I’ve got you, both of you.” There was so much more he wanted to tell her, but now wasn’t the time.

They walked up the driveway, hand in hand. He opened the front door; he hadn’t bothered knocking in a long time. This was his family, his pack, and they would always be welcome. He guided Callie inside, his hand on her lower back, trying like hell to infuse her with the strength she needed.

“Callahan.” Her father rose from his seat on the couch, setting aside his cup of coffee.Jaspercould feel her tense under his palm. The guy looked like Jasper assumed he would. Dark hair, graying at his temples. Ironed jeans with a crisp polo shirt. A dad bod. Sneakers. A pastor on his day off. “You stopped checking in. What’sgotten into you? We were worried.” He paused, his eyes moving from her to Jasper. “Who is this? Why is a boy bringing you back? Is that Blake? Have you been lying to me and your mother? What is going on here?” He took a step toward her, his arm outstretched like he was going to grab her.
