Jilly:Cap is home. Safe and sound. I came to crash with Bent, but he’s snoring.

Killer:I’m glad Cap’s home. Now, you want to tell me why you’re in bed with Bentley?

Jilly:Why? Jealous?

Killer:No.

Jilly:You’re no fun.

Killer:I’m a blast. Where are you sleeping?

Jilly:Bentley’s couch. He offered his bed, but who the hell knows the last time he washed his sheets. It was too late to go all the way back to the sorority house. Plus, I didn’t want anyone asking me questions about my shitty night.

Killer:Well, I’m going to ask you questions about your shitty night.

Jilly:You’re allowed. You’re always allowed.

Killer:How was he when you found him?

Jilly:Pissed, but like sad at the same time. He yelled at us for letting Caroline hike in the dark, and she told him to fuck himself with the log he was sitting on. Then he cried. Then we all cried. It was…a lot. But I think the worst of it is over.

Killer:Good. I’m glad the night ended okay.

Jilly:Caroline is going to stay in town for a few days. We’re all going to brunch tomorrow. How did you know where Cap would be? Bent said you told him where to look.

Killer:Lucky guess. I figured he’d want to talk to his best friend, so he’d go where he felt that connection the strongest.

Jilly:Have you talked to him tonight?

Killer:Cap? I texted him after Bentley let me know what happened. He was angry, I was borderline cruel. I don’t think we’ll ever be besties.

Jilly:Or, are you already the best friend he’s got these days?

Killer:Don’t let him hear you say that. He’ll start a rant that’ll never end.

Jilly:Where are you right now?

Killer:I’m lying bed, talking to this girl I met through the most unusual circumstance, looking out the window at the glittering skyline of the city that never sleeps.

Jilly:Las Vegas?

Killer:What? No. New York is the city that never sleeps. Vegas is the city of lights.

Jilly:That makes zero sense. No one sleeps in Vegas. I keep forgetting that I have your location. I guess I could’ve just looked.

Killer:I check yours all the time.

Jilly:Creep.

Killer:Usually just late at night, to make sure you’re not in jail.

Jilly:As if. You’re lying in bed, huh? What are you wearing?

Killer:We’re not doing this while you’re sleeping on Bentley’s couch, listening to him snore.

Jilly:Ooooooo, that’s a different rejection than the usual “it’s not time, baby.” Spice up my life, why don’t ya?

Killer:It’s also not time.
