“I mean, I ended it… but it’s his fault.”

“I see. That’s very nonspecific.” Damian’s face got slightly more serious. “Well, I’m sorry.”

“Don’t be sorry. It’s not your fault.”

“No, I suppose not.”

My phone vibrated in my pocket. I pulled it out and silenced another call from my mother. I had been dodging calls from my bestie Julie, who had been my maid of honor, and my mother all morning. I was going to talk to them eventually. I just needed some space. Even though it was Jack who cheated, I just felt so incredibly ashamed about the whole thing. I just wanted to collect my thoughts and breathe. And for the moment, Damian was a welcome distraction.

“I’m sure your mother is worried about you.” Damian said as he watched my phone screen flash on the bar.

“Probably. I just need some time.”

Damian took another sip of his drink and I noticed the gold signet ring he wore on his huge middle finger, and I found myself wondering what those long, deft fingers were capable of. I met Damian’s dark chocolate eyes again, and they were glimmering. It was almost like he could read my mind. I blushed hard. Caught.

Damn it. Get it together Addy!

I was nearly sweating from how hot and bothered he had me. I was suddenly resenting my cute fleece sweatsuit for the second time, but this time not for its bright pink color in this muted room, but for keeping me so incredibly warm.

I suddenly noticed the time on my phone. “Oh shit, I need to get to my gate.” I frantically gathered my things, shoving them into my large tote bag that said ‘Wifey’, and took another heavy sip of my drink, and quickly chomped down a pepperoncini.

Damian checked the time on his watch. “I’d say you have plenty of time.”

“No, I'm going to miss my flight. I have to go. I’m so sorry to run off like this.” I chewed my lip for a moment before going for it and I leaned in and gave him a hug, and kissed him lightly on the cheek. “Thank you for everything, really. It’s– you’ve been so kind to me. You’ll never know how much this has meant to me.” As I pulled away, I breathed in his cedarwood and neroli cologne and our eyes locked for a heated moment.

“My pleasure, Addison.”

“Addy.”

“Addy.” He said with a slight smirk as he nodded his head at me.

I made a beeline out of the lounge, and looked over my shoulder one more time at him, as I suddenly crashed into someone coming into the lounge.

“Watch the fuck out.” The business man angrily snapped at me as my tote bag went tumbling to the ground, and my things rolled out onto the floor.

Damian suddenly materialized next to me, and the businessman turned bright red.

“Mr. West. Hello. I, uh. Is she… she’s your guest? I’m so sorry, Mr. West. My apologies.”

“No problem.” I said, looking curiously at Damian, who looked like he was slicing through the man with just a look. “Now I wish my question was asking who you are.”

Damian squatted down and helped me gather the things that had tumbled out of my ‘Wifey’ tote bag. I frantically reached around, grabbing all my makeup and phone chargers, and stuffed them back into my tote.

“If you’d’ve stuck around a little longer, I’d have time to tell you.” He reached out with a smug look, and I looked down at what was in his hand, and my mouth dropped open. Damian gave me a devilish grin and handed me a tube of K-Y Yours + Mine lube. “Enjoy the honeymoon.”

“Oh my God, that is so embarrassing.” I was horrified as I snatched it out of his hand and stuffed my other unmentionables back into my bag. I looked around at the items still on the floor, suddenly realizing a few condoms and other honeymoon items had spilled out and betrayed me, loudly announcing themself in the middle of the airport lounge floor.

I suddenly felt even hotter as my cheeks flushed in embarrassment. I looked over at the other businessman who had sat himself across the room and was still slightly red from his own interaction with Damian.

Well, apparently I’m not the only one Damian makes blush.

“Thank you again. I’m so sorry.” I grabbed my bag out of his hands and left the last few condoms on the ground, trying to get the hell out of there as fast as possible. This time I didn't look back as I rushed through the airport and raced to find my gate in time.

As I speed walked through the airport, I shook my head, thinking that things could not have possibly been more embarrassing. And I felt slightly unhinged at how worked up Damian got me. I was definitely off my game. But it had been a really weird last twenty-four hours, so I wasn’t surprised.

What is wrong with you?

I wasn't normally like this. I was a bumbling, blushing klutz around that man. I quickly made my way toward my gate, hoping I wasn't too late. I quickly found my gate. It wasn't far at all, and I sat down thankful that they hadn't started boarding yet. As I caught my breath, I shook my head and smiled to myself.
