Fortunately, the server came with our food. We dug into our appetizer, each sampling from the array of sashimi that was expertly plated around flowering vegetables.

“Mmmm, the ahi tuna is so good.” Addison gushed. “I’ve been looking forward to this food for months.”

“Well, there’s tons of ahi here. You’ll definitely be able to get your fill.”

“So, how many days are you here?” Addison asked between bites.

“Just two.”

“Two days? Why would you come to Hawaii for two days?” She asked, puzzled, and I thought I also detected a hint of disappointment.

“I’m on business, not vacation.”

“But still, you could at least take a couple of days to enjoy all of this.” She motioned around us with delight in her eyes.

“I’ve been here many times before.” I smiled.

“Still.” She stared at me for a moment, and I couldn't place exactly what she might be thinking.

“You gonna tell me what you’re contemplating over there?” I prodded.

She blushed and chewed on her lip. “I’ll make you a deal.”

“Alright.” I chuckled, eager to hear what she could have possibly cooked up.

“You tell me about your cheated on story, and I’ll tell you what I was thinking.”

“How do you know I was cheated on?” I asked evenly, implying she was wrong.

“You just told me you were.” She shot back.

“That’s not what I said.” I pursed my lips.

“Nobody responds with that much resentment unless they’ve been cheated on. Tell me yours, and I’ll tell you mine.” She took her cocktail glass in her hand and plucked the purple hibiscus flower out of it, and tucked it behind her ear. Then she leaned back triumphantly in her chair with glittering eyes, waiting for me to respond.

Fuck. She’s going to be the undoing of me.

I clicked my tongue, “Alright fine. You want to know my damage–”

“Yes.” She responded immediately.

“While I was deployed, I lost one of my best friends over there. It was–” I gritted my teeth, “When I came home, without him, as if that wasn’t bad enough, I found my wife fucking my neighbor, in my bed. I lost my best friend and wife in the same year. So I’d say I know a thing or two about loss and betrayal.” I flexed my jaw and stared into the flame of the tiki torch flickering behind Addison's head.

“Oh, shit.” She practically whispered. “Damian, I’m so sorry. I shouldn’t have asked. That’s terrible.”

“Well, you would know, wouldn't you?” I shot back a bit more sharply than I meant to.

“Yes, I suppose I would.” She looked down at her plate and studied it awkwardly.

The air was suddenly tense between us, and it was my fault.

Addison pushed the food around her plate silently, and I stared into the flame for a moment, feeling sucked right back into the pain.

“You turn.” I finally said, trying to force out a smile, but failing miserably.

“What?” Addison's eyes flicked up. “Oh… right.” She bit her cheek and tried to suppress a smile. “I don’t know if I should say it.”

“Well, you have to now. That was the deal.” I tried to force another smile, even though I felt pissed remembering the image of my wife’s bouncing tits as she bobbed up and down on my neighbor's cock, moaning loudly as I had opened the door to our bedroom. It had taken everything in me not to rip Amelia right off his cock and beat him to a pulp. But it wasn’t worth it, if that’s who she wanted, then so be it. I wasn’t going to waste a second defending a woman who threw it all away.
