“He just won’t leave me alone. I don’t know what to do.”

“Maybe you should file a restr–”

Rebecca’s eyes finally noticed me, and she quickly got up.

“Hi Mr. West.”

“Rebecca.” I greeted her.

Rebecca turned to Addison and whispered. “We’re finishing this conversation later, okay?” and she disappeared around the corner.

“Okay.” Addison smiled.

“What was that about?” I question Addison.

She chewed her lip, contemplating. “It was nothing.”

“Don’t lie to me, Addy.”

“It’s fine. I’m fine.”

“Is Jack hanging around your apartment again?”

She huffed. “He may have tried to come by a few times while I was home this week.”

“I don’t like it one bit.” I ground out. “You should have stayed with me this week while you were recovering.”

“Well, I don’t need a babysitter.” She said sharply, getting irritated.

“Why didn’t you just tell me?”

“Why didn’t I just complain to my boss about my relationship problems? I don’t know Damian, how about, because it’s not your problem, or your business for that matter.”

My eyes narrowed. “If you get into trouble, because you’re not able to defend yourself while you’re sustaining a work injury, then yes, that’s very much my problem.”

“Oh, I see, so it’s not that you care about me. It’s that you think I’m a liability to your precious little company.”

“Are you a liability?”

“I haven’t decided yet.” She said tartly.

“Are you ready to be back?”

“More than ready.” Addison snapped.

“I don’t want you pushing it.”

“Noted.” Then she threw her empty bag of chips in the trash, and walked past me, and I noted the slight hobble she still had in her walk.

“You should be using a walker.”

“Don’t need it.” She called back stubbornly.

Later in the afternoon, as I was coming back from lunch, I saw Addison in the elevator, and stopped the elevator doors, and got on with her.

She rolled her eyes and leaned against the wall.

When we got back up to our floor, someone was dropping off a brown paper bag on Addison's desk.
