Teeghan rolled her eyes. “Guys, seriously. We have more important things to do right now than discuss who I or Sloane may be keeping friends with. Especially Sloane since she’s not dating you, Killian.”

Even though it were true, it still slapped me hard in the chest.

“Fine,” I said. “Let’s go.”

Teeghan and Conor piled into the car first, just as I was about to shut the door and noticed the bullet hole.

Fuck.

* * *

“Well, well, well, Teeghan Kennedy,”the guy smirked at her as he leaned over his desk at the RSA. “Look at you bringing your bodyguards in here. No matter what you say, I’m not getting rid of CCTV evidence of you speeding…again.”

“Again?” Conor repeated.

The guy laughed and sat back into his chair. “What can I do for you?”

“Broge, I really need your help,” she said. I noted the name on his name pin as Brogan. His smile disappeared and he leaned in again.

“What’s going on?”

“I need you to track a car through CCTV.”

“Teeghan…you know I can’t do that.”

“This bitch has Sloane and she means her harm,” Teeghan said. Brogan’s expression changed instantly.

“Right, who is she?”

“Amity Pearson.”

“Amity Nolan,” I corrected. “She was married.”

“I know her,” Brogan said. “Tracking her car now, it might take a few minutes. Go and wait outside, I’ll meet you by the back staff door.”

He put his “Closed” sign on his bench and we headed back outside. I had so many questions. How did Sloane know this Brogan guy, and how the hell didn’t I know everyone she knew? I’d been her boyfriend for almost three years.

Teeghan was watching me as we waited, her head cocked to the side and slight smirk on her face.

“Just turn away, Kennedy.”

She chuckled, knowing I was feeling jealous. Me…jealous…that was a new feeling and I really didn’t fucking like it.

The door opened and Brogan held out a piece of paper to Teeghan. “She has a property a few towns over that she bought recently. Looks like she was heading that way the last time our cameras picked her up.”

“Any sign of Sloane in the car?” Conor asked.

“No,” Brogan said. “She was alone.”

That was disappointing, but it was a lead. I desperately needed to find Amity and talk her down.

“Thanks Brogan,” Teeghan said. He finally looked over at me, and saw that I hadn’t taken my eyes off him. “You don’t need to worry about Killian. He’s harmless.”

“That’s not what I’ve heard,” Brogan said. “If I weren’t so terrified of your reputation, I’d be flattered, but you’re not exactly my cup of tea, cupcake. I like my men skinny and dark, just like my coffee.”

Teeghan laughed loudly as Conor led her away from the door and toward the car. Brogan hightailed it inside before I opened my mouth to speak. I was surprised that I hadn’t realized he was gay until right now, but even then, I was still curious how he knew Sloane.

I headed back to the car. Conor had entered the address into the GPS by the time I started the car. As I pushed the button for the music to come on, we sped down to where Amity had bought property.
