Sloane

I’ve no idea. He shouldn’t know his name at all. I’ve never told him.

Tee

He didn’t answer me when I asked and now none of the brothers are calling me back. Could be nothing. You know Killian.

Sadly,I did. And I knew that if none of them were answering their phone, it wasn’t good. Why the hell would he be asking about Darren?

My number was called a few moments later and I quickly ran inside and grabbed my order before I hightailed it back over the street to work. I sat down on a table near the kitchen and ate my sub. I marveled at how good it was. The bread was fresh and the cranberry sauce was to die for. I had to stop myself from moaning from delight.

Sinead had been gone all day, but I’d managed to learn quite a bit already. This job was going to be a breeze.

I finished up and decided to go for a walk around the building before I went back to the desk. As I walked around, I heard an odd sound from another building. As I cautiously continued on my path, I caught sight of a man with his pants down as he was ramming into a woman bent over and leaning against the wall. I gasped and hid behind a bush as I noticed the woman was someone I knew.

I was watching my cousin hold onto the brick wall as someone I knew to be her boss was fucking her from behind. He was going hard at it while she looked quite bored.

What the fuck?

I quickly moved away, and went back to the office but the image of her cheating on her husband was emblazoned in my retinas.

Sinead and Darren seemed to really love each other, from what I had seen.

Nothing was ever as it seemed.

KILLIAN

Conor gotout of the car and headed into the gas station to pay. I was impatient, losing my mind that she was in danger again. I shouldn’t have pushed her away. I couldn’t protect her in Dublin.

“She’s fine,” Lorcan said, from beside me. “If they wanted to use her against you, we would have heard something. It’s a long con, I guarantee you.”

“If Ronan is involved, I know he’s going to grab her and hold her. If he even touches her, Lor, I will end his entire fucking existence.”

I meant it too. The rage inside of me was overwhelming. I hated fuckers, but I’d never hated anyone more than Ronan O’Brien. If he thought he was going to use Sloane, he had another thing coming.

This has to end. And it had to end now.

Conor finally got back to the car and I took off as fast as I could. As I drove toward Dublin, I couldn’t help but remember all the times Sloane had been annoyed when I would show up where she was, even though we were dating, she knew it was because I was being overprotective.

She hated it then, and I knew she was going to hate it now but I couldn’t risk losing her.

She was standing in line, laughing and enjoying time with Amity and some other friends I recognised from school. We’d fought the night before and I couldn’t get it out of my head. I hated it when she was angry with me, but she’d brought up my dad again and I couldn’t get into that with her.

I was about to walk away when I noticed the guy come up to them. Sloane didn’t know him, I could tell by the surprise on her face that she didn’t know him nor had she been expecting him. My hackles were rising, I could feel the heat in my face and neck as my fists balled next to me. Who the fuck was this guy?

Amity was flirting with him as he smiled at the girls and said something to make them laugh. He was aiming his attention at Sloane though. I could see the way he was undressing her with his eyes.

He had a fucking deathwish.

Everyone knew Sloane was mine.

The only thing that wasn’t pushing me over to them to kick the shit out of this guy was the fact Sloane needed me to trust her. She needed to know I wasn’t going to beat anyone just for looking.

But fuck me, I wanted to. I wanted to lock her in a room forever and her and me would live our lives fucking and eating takeout.

I knew that was impossible, there was no way we could sustain ourselves and there was no way I could get away from my dad.

It was inevitable I would be recruited to work for him in the next few months, once I hit eighteen. That was why Sloane and I had been fighting so much. She could sense it too.
