There's a soft knock on the door and I smile at my mother as she slips in. She's towing Sebastian behind her, his face contorted in worry and impatience. I reach for him, my loving husband, and he crawls into bed behind me and holds me close. My mother sits on the other side of the bed and slips a finger into Eden’s small hand.

“I can’t believe I’m a grandma…” she murmurs.

I chuckle lightly. “Yea, you’re soold!”I quip.

She slaps my shoulder affectionately. “There’s a party planned to welcome little Eden into the family tomorrow. How are you feeling? Are you up to it?”

I smile blissfully, lowering my nose to Eden’s head and inhaling deeply.

“I’m ready for everything…” I whisper.

“Iam so glad I was a vampire before I had children!” Dominique laughs. She’s holding little Eden with her twins sitting on either side of her and smiling at my daughter. Everyone but Eden is full grown now, and my heart hurts a little that I won’t have more time with her as a tiny baby.

“I know!” Xanthe chuckles, ruffling her grown son’s curly blond hair affectionately as he sits down beside her. “I’ve helped humans give birth, it’s abloodbath!”

Everyone laughs at that, remembering Kiera’s delivery, apparently. I smile around at my family, sitting on benches in the garden under an enormous cherry blossom tree. Everyone’s happy, dressed in beautiful clothes and sipping goblets of blood donated by the Blood Knights. Their name has a whole new meaning now.

Sebastian's arms settle around my shoulders and he nuzzles his nose against my ear as the conversations around us continue. “How are you feeling?” he asks, his hands coming to rest over my stomach that just yesterday was huge and distended with Eden inside. Now it’s as flat and strong as ever.

“I feel perfect…” I whisper.

He sighs and kisses my neck. “Thank god for vampires…” he laughs quietly, and tugs me to my feet. We make polite goodbyes and he leads me away from the group and into a field of wildflowers growing around the castle. “Did you know that humans have to wait six weeks after having kids to get back in bed together?”

My core heats, stomach tightening deliciously. “That sounds awful…” I giggle.

He pulls me to the ground and lays me in the grass and flowers. His leg parts mine, and he slips right where he belongs. I smile, stretching my arms above me, gently gripping handfuls of pretty wildflowers in my hands.

“Lucky for me, you were healed the same day…” Sebastian purrs, reaching between us and slowly dragging my dress up my waist. His eyes flare with heat when he finds I’m not wearing any panties. “Lucky, lucky, me…” he whispers, and unbuttons his pants so fast I hear stitches pop in his haste.

“Lucky us,” I correct him, and wrap my legs around his hips as he pushes himself inside me. I gasp, feeling like a virgin all over again as he stretches me with delicious friction.

“An immortal life filled with this? Yes, lucky us…” he agrees, developing a slow and steady rhythm as our moans begin to coalesce with the nearby laughter.

Everything is nearly perfect, everything but Mara. I close my eyes, trying to be in the moment and not let my sadness overwhelm me. This is a happy moment, a happy day. I should be happy, not feeling my tears burning my eyes.

“She’ll wake up…” Sebastian says knowingly, and I meet his eyes with my own as tears trickle down my face.

He stalls his movement, face softening for me, but I shake my head. “Don’t stop, I need this, I need you…” I beg.

With tender hands he cups my face and slowly starts again. Every inch of my husband makes me feel complete, makes me feel like this is what I was born for. I was born to be his wife, to be Eden’s mother. To be Mara’s friend and Zarius and Arria’s last child. Born for a peaceful life full of love and laughter.

“I love you, Fayla,” Sebastian whispers, his lips pressing soft and delicate kisses against my neck. We’re both close already, ready to come and then maybe nap in the field. I feel content, blissfully happy.

“I love you too, Sebastian.” I pull his face to mine and kiss him gently, gasping in tiny, delicious moans as I come as quietly as I can.

Sebastian grunts, not caring who hears us, and roars as he fills me with his seed and collapses on my body. The laughter nearby gets louder, and I blush furiously and try to hide under him as he laughs quietly to himself.

“They weren't supposed to know what we were doing!” I chide, swatting him playfully.

Sebastian just shrugs and thrusts into me again. “If they didn’t know why I snuck you off to the middle of a field, then they’re hopeless!”

I gasp, ramping up for round two as his thrusts get rougher and rougher.

“Fayla!” Xanthe screams from the house, and I sit up so fast that Sebastian nearly flies off me.

He’s laughing, rolling in the grass, by the time I’m on my feet and running toward the house. My flats fly off my feet, but I don’t care. Xanthe is leaning up against the door to Mara’s room and tears are pouring down her face.
