Cassie claps. ‘Beautiful, Greg. Now get back here so you can spin the bottle.’

The bottle lands on the girl with dreads and a septum piercing.

‘Demi,’ Greg says. ‘Truth or dare?’

Demi. Archer’s sister?

‘Truth,’ Demi says.

‘Um… Are you lesbian?’

Everyone bursts into laughter.

‘Greg!’ Demi thwacks him with a paper plate. ‘Of course I’m not lesbian.’

The bottle lands on Cassie.

‘Truth or dare?’ Demi asks.

‘Truth,’ Cassie says.

‘Who was the best sex you’ve ever had?’

‘Oh, easy. Archer.’

Her eyes meet mine for a split second, and I swear she smiles at me.

The bottle lands on me.

Here we go.

‘Truth or dare?’ Cassie asks.

‘Truth.’

She makes a show of stapling her fingers on her chin. ‘Who was your first kiss?’

For a moment I stumble. I’ve never been kissed, and she knows that. She’s just trying to make me look stupid.

‘Your dad,’ I answer.

I didn’t think it would feel this good to wipe the smirk from her mouth.

The bottle lands on Cassie, and I feel power radiate through me.

‘Truth or dare?’ I ask.

‘Truth,’ she grits out.

‘Why are you such a bitch?’

‘Frankie,’ Archer warns. ‘That’s enough. It’s just a game.’

Cassie smiles tightly. ‘I had this friend, and then she turned into a slut. The end.’

My heart beats with rage. I’m not a violent person, but I have the sudden urge to pull her hair.

The bottle lands on Archer, and it’s the gleam in Cassie’s eyes that makes my stomach drop with dread.
