“Need anything else?”Sebastian asks, entering the bathroom as I soak in the lavish hot bath he drew for me. The water and bubbles are the sensory relief my body needs right now. My pussy still has a steady achy sensation that I wouldn’t trade for anything.

“No, I’m good.” I blow a bubble his way and watch it fly out of the enormous garden tub and pop.

He’s wearing a white robe, and we look ridiculously happy, like we belong in a toothpaste commercial. Until now, I never understood why those people were so happy—I mean, it’s toothpaste.

“I need to text my mom to tell her something came up, and I won’t be coming home this weekend.” Not a complete lie… More likesomeone came. Four times. “Unless you’ve changed your mind?” I still can’t believe he wants me to stay over. This is uncharted waters for us. A part of me wants to go home tonight so we can have a clean slate, but another part wants to stay and fucking enjoy every moment with him.

However, the longer I stay, the harder it’ll be to go back to the way we were before. Boss and employee. Hot guy and a curvy girl.

Nothing in his behavior has indicated that our old relationship wouldn’t resume. He promised the weekend, nothing more.

“Not a chance,” he says, pouring more champagne into the flute he handed me ten minutes ago.

Yes, this is pretty cool. I got fucked like a porn star and am now getting five-star post-sex treatment.

“Brynlee sent pictures. She’s loving her grandma time,” Sebastian says, sitting in a chair and glancing at his phone.

My pulse skitters. Since we started our fuckfest, we haven’t talked about Brynlee or our real lives beyond anything sexual. “I bet. You’re lucky to have such a good mom.”

“She’s always on top of things, that’s for sure.”

“Do you talk to your dad as much?” I know his father lives in a different state, and he’s flown to visit him once with Brynlee while I’ve worked here. But besides a couple of pictures in the living room, I don’t hear much about Brynlee’s grandfather.

“I talk to him every week. He’s a good person but needs nudging every so often to be a more present grandfather.”

“I understand. Some men need a lot of reminding.” My mom comes to mind, how my father took off and didn’t raise us. She stepped up to the plate and did the best she could. Then again, Sebastian does the same for his daughter. “Brynlee is lucky. She has a good support system in you and your mom. I’m sure it isn’t easy.”

Sebastian sets his phone aside and nods slowly, looking at me. “Mother’s Day celebrations at school are the worst. My mom fills in, but Brynlee feels different from the other kids.”

My heart shrinks in my chest. “I feel for her. I had the opposite with Father’s Day.” And no fill-ins, in my case. My grandparents moved to Hawaii and rarely visited us. My mom never remarried or had a significant other who became a permanent fixture in her life.

“I’m sorry.”

“It’s okay. It could have been worse if she’d had a great relationship and lost it. She was better off single. Which, of course, wasn’t your case.”

“Yeah.”

“Do you miss your wife?” I ask, and I mentally slap myself a millisecond later. What kind of lame question is that? There is no winning answer to this question. Of course, he misses his late wife. And that doesn’t change anything, but it could still make it awkward. “Oh, you don’t have to answer,” I add, hoping I didn’t completely put my foot in my mouth.

“She was a wonderful woman. I wish she were here to watch Brynlee grow.”

Diplomatic answer.

I look down at the bubbles, wondering why the water feels a bit cooler now. Sighing, I drop my shoulders a notch lower into the tub. I can’t be jealous of a woman who’s no longer alive. That’s why this weekend is dangerous—I have so much to give him… and I’m not sure if he’s ready for it.

“Almost there,”I say as we hike through the bushes of one of my favorite parks in Dallas.

After a night without much sleep, we woke up late, made love again, ate lunch, and set off for some outdoor activity. I usually do this alone, so having Kendall with me is a lot more fun.

The sun shines strong in the afternoon, but the canopy of the tall Oak trees offers a little respite from the heat. Dry leaves crunch under her tennis shoes as she walks in front of me. She’s wearing one of my workout shirts, but she managed to tie a small knot on the side, and now the cotton outlines her curves. Her Lycra shorts snug her big ass, making every part of me dangerously attuned to her.

“No wonder you’re so fit. You said you do this every weekend?”
