“Good thing she feels the same.” He winked, and I lifted my chin, once more returning my gaze to Tenley.

“How do you know?”

He bopped me in the back of the head. “Idiot, she looks at you the same way you’ve been staring at her.”

“First off, ow.” I rubbed the back of my head, readjusting my hat. “Second, am I crazy?”

He chuckled. “Everyone’s crazy when they’re in love, little bro.”

I shook my head. “I’ve only known her for a couple months.”

“And I knew I was going to marry Harper the day after I met her.”

“I didn’t say anything about marriage.”

“I know,” he simply stated, tipping his head toward me. “Yet, all the same.”

Remington removed his hand from around my shoulders and leaned forward against the fence. “I assume Mom doesn’t know.”

“What gave it away?” I chuckled.

“Oh, you know. Some of what she said last night hinted at that. Plus, with all of this party planning, she's especially oblivious to anything else going on around her.” He lifted a brow. “You two are officially dating, yes?”

“Yeah.” I grinned, looking at Tenley. She glanced away from the tinsel and locked onto my gaze. Her smile widened, the edges of her eyes crinkling.

“Oh yeah, there’s no denying that.” Remington chuckled and wrung his hands together. “By the way, I want to apologize for mom last night.”

“No apology needed. Wasn’t your fault.”

“I could’ve said something.”

I glanced down at the ground. “No matter how old I get, she’s still Mom, you know.”

“True that. I have a fully grown, adult kid of my own, and she’s still Mom.”

“Speaking of Tyson, is he coming home for Christmas at all?” I lifted my gaze to Remington.

He leaned my way and whispered, “Don’t tell the wife, but he’s surprising us tomorrow.”

“My lips are sealed.” I grinned, feeling absolutely content. Even if I still hadn’t confronted my mom yet about what she’d said. Honestly, it didn’t seem like that big of a deal in the grand scheme of things. Or maybe that was my rose-colored, love-filled brain talking.

“And my lips are sealed about you and Tenley,” Remington replied. “Though, you should tell her soon.”

“I want just one date, that’s it.”

“Smart man. I can’t believe Harper stuck around through all of Mom’s well intended meddling during our first three months of our relationship.”

I sighed. “My exact reasoning.”

He grabbed my shoulder again. “Especially since it’s been what, eighteen years since you’ve even spoken to a girl?”

“Go ahead, rub it in,” I grumbled, shaking free of his hold.

He threw his head back and laughed. “You know, you’ve got to be the smoothest guy I know. Going from no girls at all, to one who totally spent the night with you.”

I snapped my gaze to his face. “How do you know that?”

“I was headed to Mom’s house when Tenley’s mom and grandma arrived. Those two got out of the car, Tenley did not. Then suddenly she’s just here.” He grinned.
