“No, sir.” Digging my finger into my temple to temper the oncoming headache, I listen to Titan’s concerns for his daughter and how we essentially kidnapped her. “We thought it best to get her away from the city.”

“Without telling me!” He shouts so loud that Duke raises a brow as he enters the informal kitchen where I’m leaning over the island counter, waiting for the coffee to finish brewing. “Who the hell said you could just run away with her?”

“You’re paying us to protect her. We’re doing so to the best of our ability. Some of that means keeping her off the radar.” I explain our motive again, but he doesn’t want to hear it, so I continue on. “You have someone in your inner circle leveling these threats. We’re working to figure it out.”

That gives him pause. While the man doesn’t trust many, I don’t think he thought about someone close to him betraying him, either. “Who?”

Putting the call on speaker so Duke can listen in, I reply, “I’d rather not raise suspicion until we’re certain.”

“Who!” he barks, not wanting to be left in the dark.

“Who do you think?” Duke mouths off. Even the most oblivious man would have their suspicions.

“It can’t be.” Right on the money. “They wouldn’t dare.”

“They would.” I’m unsure if his thoughts align with ours, but he needs to understand that anyone can betray you.

“What would you have me do then?” He sounds resigned.

“Trust us to do what you hired us to do,” I state plainly.

He scoffs. “If the people I’ve trusted most would betray me, why should I believe you all won’t?” It’s a fair enough question, but my back bristles anyway.

“Because no one cares more about your daughter than we do.” That’s putting it bluntly; let him read between the lines.

“What is that supposed to mean?” His growl is loud enough to shake the windows.

Lorde is the one who answers as he enters the room. “It means we’re going to ensure she’s safe from anyone who poses a threat to her. Whether physical or emotional, Sol will be protected on all fronts.”

“Let me talk to my daughter,” Titan demands.

“She’s sleeping,” Lorde tells him. “She needs her rest because she’s been stressed and scared beyond reason.”

“I want her calling me as soon as she’s awake.” With that demand, the line goes dead as he ends the call.

“How’s she doing?” I look to Lorde.

A sly grin spreads over his face. “In a warm bath, soaking. She won’t admit it, but she’s sore. I do believe she enjoys it, though, because she tried to convince me to spread her nice and wide before I forced her into the bath.”

Nodding, I’m not surprised. It seems that from the moment we found her in the park, Sol has been trying to get under our skin, and it’s worked. But it’s more than that. I could tell from the first time our eyes met that she was enamored. There was no question she felt desire for each of us, but I don’t think she knew what it was at that time. She’s never pushed us away, never turned us down, and certainly hasn’t tried to lock herself away from us.

Since the beginning, there’s been a powerful, almost otherworldly, connection that none of us have been able to deny. Being alone here with her has only ignited our passions.

Yesterday, and the way she accepted us all without question or complaint, no matter that we held her down and took her one at a time, only proves she was made for us. Now that we’ve had her, nothing will stop us from claiming her properly.

“This needs to end,” I half growl, half bark. I fucking hate the idea of her in danger. It’s an affront to everything we stand for. “Anything come back on that license plate yet?” I look to Lorde, knowing he was up working on it through the night. Not even Titan Pharma’s cyber security is good enough to keep him out if he’s got enough time to crack into their mainframe.

Grabbing his laptop, he powers it up as we hear soft steps floating down the hallway. “One more door to break through, then I’m in.”

“Good morning.” Sol smiles, her voice bright, but her body language is shy. She’s not sure where we stand after everything that’s happened.

“Little girl.” I hold out a hand for her. She skips over to me, her long shirt tantalizing on her thighs. Scooping her up in my arms, I settle her on the island and nudge my way between her legs, using one hand to bring her closer while the other slides between us to see how she’s feeling. I steal a kiss and lick across her pouty lips as my fingers gently prod at her opening.

When I feel her tense slightly before forcing herself to relax, I pull back, tugging her bottom lip between my teeth. “You’re still hurting.” Bringing my hand up, I trace her lips with my finger. Her wide eyes stare at me with lust and need.

Duke doesn’t hesitate to lick her clean when he sneaks in a kiss. “Delicious.” She blushes at his groan, and I see her peeking over her shoulder at Lorde, whose brow is furrowed as he glares down at the screen in front of him, willing his programs to work faster.
