“What torture have you decided to inflict on me today?” I call, cracking the door and stepping out.

He keeps his legs spread, his arms on the back of the couch. He slowly sips his drink, then returns to the sprawled position.
“Going somewhere?” I finally ask.
“I am, yes.”
“Where?”
“A press conference.” His eyes gleam. “I didn’t want to keep you chained, songbird. So I’m allowing your freedom.”
“Without clothes.”
He shrugs. “Whether or not you choose to leave naked is up to you.”
That sounds like a challenge.
And yet, I already know it’s one I can’t meet.
“What if there’s a fire?”

I grind my teeth. “So, what, you want me to wander around your condo naked? It’s so… unsanitary.”

“You’re right.” He nods to himself. “You shouldn’t sit on any of the furniture in this state.”
