“So?”

“You already have one of those.” I hitch a thumb at the building saturated in pink across Main Street. “Over there.”

“No harm in spreading the goodness,” she chirps.

“Roosters is just fine without additional fluff,” I reason.

“Sure about that?” Grace gestures at the obvious lack of customer traffic.

“Hey,” I chide. “You’ve been here when the place is packed.”

“That’s true. I’ve seen it get very busy.” She waves at the loyal patrons that we’ve come to depend on.

The handful that are currently belly-up to the bar occupy a spot rain or shine. Harper takes that as a cue and trots off to check on them. Her motivations are more than likely spurred on by wanting to stick around for whatever happens next. Otherwise, I might be tempted to send her meddling ass home.

“I’d heard a newbie managed to get Foster’s boxers in a twist. Or is it a briefs day?” Drake cuts in at my expense.

Unfortunately for him, my feathers are far from ruffled. I’ll gladly take whatever shit they dish out if it leads to him getting out of his recent slump. “Commando, thanks for asking.”

Grace audibly gulps, and I catch her focus lowering to my jeans. One downward tug at the zipper and my cock would spring free for her taking. I angle my hips forward in invitation.

“Hold the fuck on. Is this the chick you met that Harper keeps talking about? The one that distracted you to the point of agreeing to everything?” Drake nods at Grace while addressing me.

Her lips twist to the side. “Well, we didn’t technically meet until the festival.”

“So, you just drooled over each other from across the room? How adorable.”

My features go blank as I gape at him. “Did you just say adorable?”

“Would you prefer another term?” Ridge almost cracks a grin. “Like soulmate?”

Grace’s gaze shifts between my so-called friends. “Is this heckling normal?”

Drake shrugs. “Only when he shows a genuine interest in someone.”

“We gotta get our rocks off somehow,” Ridge adds.

I chuckle. “Yeah, the women in this town are wise enough to keep a safe distance.”

Grace’s expression beams brighter with each taunt we fling. “Should I feel honored?”

“Yes,” they say in unison.

“Well then.” She flips her hair. “Yet Garrett doesn’t do relationships.”

Drake tosses his hands in a defeated gesture. “Not every guy is built to be a love machine. Sex fiend? Absolutely.” He points at me to eliminate any confusion. “At your service.”

I bow for everyone’s benefit and amusement. “It’s a tough job, but I do my part for the good of humanity.”

“Yes, you’re extremely noble.” He snorts and slaps me on the back. “We embrace his bachelor lifestyle. It’s just fun to give him shit when he doesn’t get the girl of his most recent desires.”

“Ah, so I’m more of a challenge.” There’s no question in her tone.

My loud scoff draws her attention to me. “Nah, sweetheart. We’re not meant to be fuck buddies.”

“We could just be buddies,” she offers in compromise.

I choke on the sharp denial slicing at my throat. “Whatever blows your skirt up. And we can begin our purely platonic arrangement by getting you a proper date.”
