I spent a lot of time at Cyrus’ completely naked, and I’m glad I don’t have to be that way here. In fact, I’m not really sure I want anyone looking at my body again.

I try to sneak into the kitchen by moving down the sides of the walls and holding my breath as I move through the bar area, when a voice calls out my name. Freezing, I look over my shoulder, and my body is filled with complete and totally defeat.

It’s the leader, Legacy.

“Need to talk to you,” he states before he turns and walks away.

I assume he wants me to follow him, so I do, though begrudgingly. He leads me down a darkened hallway before he slips through a door, one I know is his office. I’ve explored almost every inch of this place. I know where these men sleep and where they do their business.

Making my way into the office, I practically tiptoe through the doorway and over to the chair that sits across from his dark, scarred wooden desk. Without a word, he sinks down in his leather chair. I do the same in mine, watching him as he lets out a heavy sigh before he lifts his head, and his gaze finds mine.

I watch as he lifts his hand to his face, rubbing his thumb across his bottom lip before he drops his hand to the desk, and he speaks. I’m already trembling, unsure of what is going to happen next, but this feels huge, massive even.

“I’m sure, since you seem to be very intelligent and know when to pay attention to your surroundings, that you know what is about to happen.”

“Raul told me that one of the men would be marrying me. That I was his now,” I say.

I can’t hide the tremble in my voice, the absolute fear that consumes me. I don’t know who I belong to. I don’t know what is going to happen, and I’ve been hiding in my room for days hoping they would all just forget I existed.

Though, I don’t think it’s possible at this point, especially since I’ve been given to someone… whoever that person may be.

“He’s right,” Legacy replies. “You are going to be marrying someone. That’s why I called you in here.”

Holding my breath, I wait for whatever it is he’s about to say next. Or rather, whoever it is. It sounds like he’s going to drop the hammer, that the other shoe is getting ready to fall, so I wait, knowing it is just another life-altering moment of mine. But when he does speak, I can’t school my features at all. I know without a doubt that I stare at him with an expression of pure confusion.

“Do you want a traditional wedding or a courthouse thing?”

I blink a few times, as the words don’t sink in immediately. They don’t register. I just sit perfectly still across from him, staring and blinking, unsure of what to say or do.

“What?” I finally ask when he stares back at me and doesn’t say anything else. “Itch is leaving that up to you.”

Itch.

“Itch?” I ask.

“The man who will be your husband,” he says.

So, that’s who is going to be my husband.Itch. I don’t know his real name, but I know exactly who he is. This is the man who was beaten up, the man I took care of as best as I could. I wanted to do so much more, but I did what I could.

That is who is going to marry me. I haven’t spoken to him in months. I’ve also seen him with Thunder and the other girls. I can’t hold any of that against him—there are no rules for men like him, for any of the men who belong in this underworld.

Just rules for women.

So many rules for us.

I think about telling him to just do the courthouse ceremony, but then I also think about how this is probably the only decision I’ll ever be able to make for myself, and they’re asking my opinion, so I decide I’m going to give it.

“A very small wedding.”

ChapterThree

ITCH

“You knowI can’t do dick,” Duke states, standing outside of his clubhouse, not allowing me entrance.

I’ve been here all of five minutes. He knows why I pulled up into their clubhouse; he could see it all over my face. And honestly, I’m a man who doesn’t give up.Ever. I refuse to believe that Cyrus and Dutch get away with all this bullshit Scot-fucking-free. I won’t stand for it, no matter what the fuck I signed.

“I can’t do dick, but you or someone you knowcan,” I state.
