This bottle is a sign.

I don’t pick it up. I leave it right where it is, then move through the rest of the house. It’s empty. Every closet, every nook and cranny, completely fucking empty. I walk out onto the back patio and look for Diablo, but he’s not there.

Nobody is fucking there.

Then I hear a noise.

Digging my phone out of my pocket, I turn on the flashlight and point it toward the noise. That’s when I find four bikers tied together at the fence line. They are sitting side by side and back to back, with rope tied around their torsos, clothes tied around their mouths, and their wrists and ankles tied with rope as well.

Fuck.

I run to them, take my knife out of my pocket and cut them free. “What the fuck happened?” I ask as soon as I pull the cloth from around Hellcat’s neck.

“Tall blond guy, I’m assuming he’s the one we were supposed to be fucking watching out for, blindsided us.”

Once they’re free, I help them to their feet. The sounds of moans and groans fill the night air. “We’ve been tied up for hours. Fuck me, he got us. I don’t even know how it happened,” Volt mutters.

“Where is Reese?” I demand.

All four of them stare at me in silence. I open my mouth to speak, but I don’t get a single word out. Hellcat takes a step toward me.

I don’t know why I have hope he will have a completely different answer for me. He doesn’t. He tells me exactly what I don’t want to hear.

“He took her,” he rasps. “Loaded her up in his fucking car and drove off.”

“He took her,” I repeat.

There is a moment of silence as all the men stare at me almost expectantly. I don’t know what the fuck they expect me to do, but I don’t do it. Instead, I turn around and search through my phone contacts until I find Legacy’s.

“Legacy,” he grunts.

“Douglas took her,” I announce. “He didn’t hurt the brothers. He tied them up, but he took her with him.”

Legacy doesn’t speak right away, but I can hear him breathing. “Are you fucking serious? Get the fuck down to the clubhouse.” I snort as my response.

I have no idea what the fuck he’s going to do at the clubhouse with all of us, but I certainly don’t want to stay here and stare at this empty fucking house.

Ending the call, I look at the brothers. “Legacy wants us at the clubhouse.”

I turn around and walk away from them, but Volt calls out my name. I stop in place. He jogs up to my side, stopping beside me.

“Agony,” Volt murmurs. “He got us. I’ve never been blindsided like that before. Whoever he is, he isn’t just some guy. He’s fucking something or someone.”

“Like who?” I ask.

He shrugs a shoulder. “Like someone who knew exactly how to get four men who have fought and killed others incapacitated and tied up.”

“Who the fuck do you think this asshole is?” I grind out.

Hellcat walks up to us, along with the other two. The five of us form a small circle. But Hellcat tilts his head to the side.

“Who the fuck is that guy? I didn’t think…” His voice trails off, and I want to tell him that I know who this asshole is, but I fucking don’t.

“All I know is that his name is Douglas. I think Logan needs another phone call. I have a feeling he kept some things from us.”

The men start to make their way to their bikes, all except Hellcat, who hangs back beside me. “Thunder?” he asks on a whisper.

“Dropped her off in hell against my better judgment,” I snap before I turn and walk away.
