When he slides his nose alongside mine, my breath hitches at the tender move. He bends and slightly wraps his arm around the backs of my thighs and picks me up, carrying me over to my desk.

Slowly, he lets me down on my feet. My ass is pressed against the edge of the desk, his hips holding them in place there, and I feel his length against my lower belly. It’s hard. That doesn’t surprise me because I’m pretty sure he’s hard all the time.

I think he’s going to tell me again to marry him. He doesn’t. He reaches down, gripping the sides of my skirt, and tugs it up to my waist, exposing my panties. I let out a gasp as his hand dives into said panties.

Wells chuckles, snorting once before he clears his throat. He leans forward slightly, two fingers sliding through my folds once, twice, swirling my clit and then slipping inside of me. I grip his shoulders, my nails digging into his skin through his shirt.

“Wells,” I hiss. “There are people right outside.”

He chuckles. “I told you I would fuck you here. I’m going to.”

My hips jerk as he presses his palm against my clit. His fingers inside of me make a come-hither motion. My eyes roll into the back of my head as my hips buck, my body climbing higher and higher.

My body tingles, and I know I’m getting there.

So close.

So close to my release when there is a knock on my office door.

Freezing, I think he’s going to stop, too, but he doesn’t. He continues to move his fingers inside of me. My nails dig into his shoulder even harder, and I open my mouth to say something, but nothing comes out.

That’s because I come. It rushes through me like a freight train with no brakes. My muscles freeze, then my body starts to tremble. I hold my breath for one beat, maybe two before I exhale and lean forward, my forehead resting against his shoulder.

Whoever is on the other side of the door knocks again, and I lift my head, my eyes widening. I stare at the closed door, waiting for it to open, then my gaze flicks to the knob, and I let out a relieved breath that it’s locked.

Wells gently slips his hand from between my legs and takes a step backward. I straighten my skirt and try to calm my panting breaths. I don’t have a mirror, and I hope I don’t look too sweaty… and I don’t know what…sexed?

Is that a thing?

Making my way over to the door, I really hope it isn’t Eira on the other side to say anything else that will cause Wells to get pissed off and make any other life-altering declarations.

Engaged.

I still want to clarify that because he has said I’m marrying him more than once now, and I have no idea what he’s even talking about.

Opening the door, I half expect Eira to be standing on the other side, but instead, it’s Allison with Eira standing behind her. My eyes widen as I flick them from one to the other, then land on Allison, whose eyes are as round as saucers. Eira clears his throat, then spins around and marches away.

Slowly, I turn my head and look behind me to see Wells sucking on his two fingers. My eyes widen because I know exactly where those fingers have been. Exactly. And just seconds ago. Sucking in a breath, I turn back to Allison. She no longer looks shocked. Instead, she’s got a cat-ate-the-canary smirk on her face and brushes past me into the office.

“I didn’t expect to see sex on a stick here from the bar. Nice to see you again…” Her words trail off, and Wells clears his throat.

“Wells,” he says, introducing himself.

She laughs softly, and I don’t know why, but I expect her to flirt with him. Maybe because men have always gravitated toward her and not so much me. She’s sultry and sexy. I’m obviously naive and don’t know how to be either of those things.

So when she stays where she is and just says it’s nice to meet him, I am surprised, although happily surprised. I shouldn’t be. Allison has always been a good friend to me. The best I’ve ever had, actually.

“Nice to meet you. I’m Allison. Parker is my best friend,” she states.

He hums, turning his head to face her. I watch as he gives her a smile and then shifts his attention to me. “Are you going to tell your friend the news?” he asks.

My eyes widen, and I shake my head, no doubt appearing as if I’m going to lose my mind. He laughs, almost as if he thinks I’m cute or something, then he gives me a wink and shifts his attention back to Allison.

“News?” she asks.

“Parker and I are getting married.”

His words are loud, boastful, and even proud. But I can’t help but feel like I need to curl into a ball and breathe, or at least attempt to breathe. I’m not quite sure I’ll be able to in a few moments.
