Hunter didn’t run. He’d stayed. For me.

He appeared in the doorway a minute later, dressed in his shirt and jeans, but with bare feet. Why was that so sexy?

He lifted a mug. “I brought you some coffee.”

“Oh. Thanks. I guess you woke up early?”

Hunter crossed to the bed with a grin. “Yeah, I woke up to some very sexy kisses this morning. Mookie is trying to steal me away.”

“Mookie!” I scolded my fluffball of a dog, who’d trotted into the room looking pleased with himself. I’d let him in from the porch before Hunter and I had gone to sleep the night before. “How could you?”

Hunter handed me the mug of coffee. “Try not to be too hard on him. I am pretty desirable.”

“Yes, you are,” I murmured, arousal curling through me. But I couldn’t help asking, “No regrets about last night?”

Hunter met my eyes. “None.”

My heart fluttered as he dipped forward to kiss my forehead. If Hunter wasn’t second-guessing this, then I refused. I pushed thoughts of Alexa’s text out of my mind. I didn’t want to think about the mistakes she’d made. Her mistakes weren’t mine.

Hunter wasn’t a secret lover, but a partner. This might all be new, but it felt right.

I took a quick gulp of my coffee to cover my morning breath, then hooked an arm around his neck and drew him into a thorough kiss.

“Mm. Clark and caffeine. Perfect morning breakfast.”

My eyes popped wide. “Oh, shoot. Do you want breakfast? I could make something, or…uh—”

I lost my train of thought as Hunter kissed me again, not with urgency, but like a man who had all day to make his point.

“The only thing I want to devour right now is you,” he said, in case the decadent kiss hadn’t gotten the message across. “We can go by the diner later if you want. I don’t want to share my boyfriend just yet.”

Shit, he was good. Flutters erupted, but I tried to keep my head in between kisses. “I guess…that would sell…the fake relationship. The morning-after breakfast.”

Hunter pulled back. “Clark, that’s not what I meant. This isn’t fake anymore. Not for me.”

I wet my lips, feeling unaccountably nervous. “But we’re not exactly boyfriends either. I mean, we’ve been on one real date.”

His eyes grew intense. “And exchanged two real orgasms. About to be three, if I have my way.”

Heat washed through me. “That sounds…good. But this is all still so new. And it’s a bit confusing, where the lines are between fake and real…”

“Angel, I’m not trying to rush you.” Hunter rolled me beneath him, where eye contact was inescapable. “Maybe we haven’t technically been really dating this whole time, but that doesn’t mean we haven’t been getting to know one another. We don’t have to use a label yet, but this is serious for me.”

“For me too,” I said. “I just didn’t know what to expect. I mean, you’re the one with a guy for the first time.”

He nodded. “That’s true. And maybe it seems like I’m moving crazy fast, but I’ve been thinking about you and what this would mean for me for weeks now. I wouldn’t have taken this step until I was already ninety-nine-percent sure about what I felt for you. I meant it when I said this wasn’t an experiment. It’s an exploration, yes, and a lot of new times, but I know what I want.”

I slid my fingers into his hair. “What do you want right now?”

“I want to taste every bit of you.”

My breathing faltered. “Then get started, boyfriend. The day’s wasting.”

He grinned, his eyes lighting up. “Just lie there and look pretty.” He winked. “I’ve got some manscape to explore.”

“Manscape?” I laughed. “That is so bad—oh.Ohhh. That’s so good,” I moaned as he tugged down the sheet and traced his tongue along my collar bone while his fingers danced along the ridge of my hardening cock.

Hunter wasn’t kidding about exploring. While I lay beneath him, jolting from sensation, whimpering and moaning and melting into the mattress, his hands and mouth tracked over nearly every inch of me. When he pushed my thighs apart, he paused long enough for some of my brain processing to return.
