BOOK 1

CHAPTER 1

The dream was so realI was shaking. My mind was still full of the image of the fae woman sitting alone in the dark, holding her dead child’s body, then feeling that same small body begin to stir once more–but this time with a horrible and unnatural life.

I felt weak and confused. My body still overcome simply from the effort of processing an entirely fictional experience.

I forced my mind back to the last thing I remembered before the dream.

There was only blackness. An empty space I knew should be filled with rich detail.

Panic started to seize me. Where was I? What was this?

My eyes remained closed as I drew a quick breath, then moved my hands to clutch at the sheets on the bed in which I lay.
