Victor: Are you sure you’re not some secret coffee coinsure here to run me out of business?

Sally: I suppose you wouldn’t want to go on a second date then, would you?

Victor: It’s a risk that I’ll have to take.

Sally: Great, how about Tuesday night? Six o’clock.

Victor: Any particular craving?

Sally: Meet me at my work? We can walk to this pizza place nearby I’ve been wanting to try.

Victor: That should work. I’ll call you if anything comes up.

Pizza on a weeknight, very casual. Not the kind of date that leads to a romantic evening, but it’s another evening with Sally.

I’ll take it.

Marie won’t stop badgering me for details on my date with Sally. Each day there’s a new attempt to pull information from me. In respect for Sally’s privacy, I don’t say much. Although, I’ve never been the type to overshare. Even with Marie.

I tell my sister we had a great time and are getting pizza tonight. That seems to tide her over. I’m sure she just went to Sally for details.

I check my watch all day long. I plan on driving to Sally’s office, even though most of Kastle Harbor is walkable. To try to keep it low key, I decide against bringing anything tonight. Though we did get some new dark chocolate covered espresso beans in… maybe I should bring Sally a bag? She would probably enjoy them.

All women love chocolate, right?

The little bag fits perfectly in my jeans pocket. I grab my keys, tell Marie I’m heading out, and make the short drive over to the office.

The outside of the building is a light blue with white trim, very coastal in appearance. As I walk in, I notice Sally right away. Her hair is like a wall, glimmering around her, as she’s hunched over her desk, fervently writing something down. I walk towards her, like a mosquito mesmerized by a light, I can’t help but get closer.

She looks up and our eyes meet. I want to reach out and touch her, to run my hands through her hair and gently pull her in for a kiss.

“Victor, just let me swap shoes and we can head out,” she tells me as she pulls sneakers out from under her desk.

I love the way my name rolls off her tongue.

What would it sound like during the throes of passion?

Nope, can’t go there.

“I’m ready,” she states as she stands up and grabs a jacket and a bag. “I hope you’re still in the mood for pizza.” Her dark navy suit seems tailored especially for her figure. She’s both professional and sexy.

“Pizza from Kal’s? I’ll never turn it down.”

I hold the door open and off we go.

To say Victor takes my breath away is an understatement. I knew it was him when he walked into the office. He smells like oak and espresso mixed with something I can’t quite place.

Between his full height and the musculature hidden under the clothes, Victor is like a romance paperback cover model draped in flannel. Subconsciously I found myself licking my lips. I bite my bottom lip, hoping Victor doesn’t notice.

He explains to me about why this pizza place is a good choice.
