But there’s a conversation between two people, a male voice and my sister’s sultry laugh. Bristol Atkins doesn’t have a feminine laugh; it’s loud and obnoxious, but when she’s flirting or there happens to be a man around she wants, it turns seductive. There are only a few men it could be who are without committed subs. I hope it’s anyone but one particular silver fox who happens to be…

I don’t get the thoughts out of my head before watching Penn sweep her into a kiss.

To put this all in perspective, she could have walked in on Luca fucking me. Kissing my boss isn’t the worst thing, but then again, it really isn’t the best thing either.

“Ani, oh good, you’re here.” She doesn’t pull away from Penn or act for my sake like nothing has happened. “Penn kept me company, telling me I didn’t want to go to the main house right now.”

He shoots me a grin. “And you’re welcome, Anisten,” he replies, not letting go of my sister.

What the fuck. They’ve known each other for less than an hour. “Well, I guess I’m not needed here if you’re…”

“Spend some time with your sister. We have a meeting of the minds shortly. And, if you want to swim, Laura keeps suits in the locker room.”

He leans down, says something to my sister, and as she turns a bright shade of crimson, he strolls out of the pool with a very evident hard-on.

“Really, Penn?” I ask as he walks by. “Out of all the girls you could have brought for the weekend? And now you want my sister?”

He shrugs his shoulders, and Bristol stands to greet me. “No, you stay put. Let me grab one of the spare swimsuits. Knowing Laura, I might as well go naked, but I’ll be back and we’re going to talk.”

Bristol salutes me. “Aye, aye, captain.” She starts running toward the water, and now that Penn is gone, her obnoxious laugh is back.

If I could choose any uncommitted Dom for my sister, it would be anyone but my friend, my mentor, and my boss. Murphy’s law never gives a rat’s ass about fucking me over, and why would he start now.

CHAPTERTHIRTY

“Ithink your girl is upset with me." Penn strolls into a mandatory meeting that Dean ordered, going over rules for the weekend with everyone here.

“I’ve not seen her since she went to look for her sister, but if you have your sights set on Bristol, I can't imagine she'll be happy." He probably doesn't remember telling me about his obsessive crush on Ani's sister. "You had to go in search of Bristol, didn't you?"

Penn once told me of a woman who'd caught his attention in a picture. He'd shared her name and how she was a colleague's sister. The name wasn’t popular, and Anisten is his colleague; it had been easy to piece it together.

"For someone you've never met, you seem rather enamored."

His eyes widen, and if I were to wager a guess, he must realize I know about his secret crush.

"Oh, fuck, I didn't think you would remember. It was so long ago."

“Shit, how could I not? The name Bristol gave it away. But Bristol is a grown-ass woman and, by the looks of it, could use a man like you.”

“Care to tell Ani this?” he asks.

“Oh, fuck no,” I reply as we both chuckle at my adamance. “I imagine that Bristol getting involved with essentially her boss, who is in the same kink club as us, could be awkward as fuck for all involved.”

Titus is the next to enter the room, staring at his phone. “Hey, Titus,” he moves his attention to me, “did your boy get in trouble? He’d mentioned it when I walked in on what seemed like a serious conversation between him and Ani.”

Anisten and I don’t have the same relationship as the others. But, if Anisten did something, I’d want to know. “Ah, yes, Lars’s words of advice to your girl. It was all Lars. And he meant well. He gave her unsolicited advice, but from what I heard happened just a while ago, maybe you won’t think it’s unsolicited, with the public sex scene in the living room.”

I walk over to grab myself a bourbon, returning to Titus and Penn. “Oh. Do tell.”

“Or maybe you’ll be pissed because it wasn’t his goddamned business.”

“Now, I want to know,” Penn chimes in.

I send a pointed stare his way. “Hush, you’re on thin ice with me, to begin with.”

Penn isn’t fazed by my words, helping himself to his own glass of bourbon.

“What I’m left to believe is Lars sees Anisten’s submission as more than you two agreed to, meaning he encouraged her to think about a twenty-four-seven sort of relationship, and just not well, you know.”
