Looking at Kristin, I shook my head. “I can’t believe I didn’t tell you!”

Kristin’s eyes lit up with glee. She had always been one for a good bit of gossip. “Tell me what?”

“She moved!”

“Whaaat?”

I laughed. “I know! She moved to New York City. Said she wanted to explore new opportunities. She RSVP’d she wouldn’t be at the shower.”

“Wow. I didn’t see that coming. Oh, well, at least you won’t have to deal with that awkwardness.”

“Tell me about it.”

“Did Lucas ever tell his parents about what happened?”

With a shake of my head, I replied, “Nope. But he did tell Greg, who told Janet. Needless to say, she wasn’t upset her sister was going to be MIA during the shower.”

Kristin chuckled. “I always did like that Janet.”

“Me too!” I agreed as we locked arms and giggled the entire way to the cashier.

Hollie

Rose caught me right as I was popping a hors d’oeuvre into my mouth. She pulled me into her arms and hugged me so tightly, I nearly popped the food out of my mouth.

“Everything looks beautiful, sweetheart! Just beautiful. You truly have such a talent for party planning.”

Smiling, I forced the piece of cheese and meat down.

“Thank you, Rose. I’m so glad you’re happy with it.” Glancing around the room, I spied Janet. “Janet seems to be happy as well. She looks beautiful.”

“Yes, she does. As do you. There is a glow about you this evening.”

Placing my hand on the side of my face, I chuckled. “Probably the wine.”

“Everyone is gushing about the tables. I love how you used the square white vases and put the flowers and greenery in them. And the floating candles are stunning. I’m not sure how you did it, but they are beautiful.”

“It’s easy. You just use gel beads, put the decorations you want in the vase, then pour water in. They give the appearance of floating in the vase.”

“Stunning,” Rose said as she looked around the room.

“You’re happy with the caterer?”

Rose put her hand to her heart. “Yes! Did you see that tree charcuterie board?”

Laughing, I nodded. “I did.”

“They told me you asked for that design.”

Another nod. “I did. I saw a picture on Pinterest and I loved it. Showed it to them and asked if they could do it.”

“Greg’s favorite thing is how you used little toy soldiers as the nameplates. How did you know he loved them?”

“Lucas,” I answered with a wide grin.

“Of course! Of course!” She squeezed my arm. “I better get back to the guests.”

“I’m going to stick by this table here and eat some more!”
