The moment I’d mentioned getting married in Scotland, Lucas was on board. Since he still had some time before the dig site opened back up, we decided to head to Scotland for a week. I thought Ireland was beautiful, but Scotland was like a whole other world. It was beyond beautiful and a place I would for sure want to come back to and explore more of.
“We need to come back in the summer when it isn’t so gloomy,” I said as we walked hand in hand down one a street in Edinburgh. “We have to stay in the same place, though. The Dunstane is beautiful, and that little backyard courtyard is so adorable. I can’t imagine what it’s like in the spring and summer.”
“It is a cute place. I think my favorite part is that copper tub.”
I felt my cheeks heat. “We have had fun in it, haven’t we?”
He nodded and laughed. “How did you find the hotel?”
“My friend Jemma, the one who lives in London, recommended it.”
Lucas stopped walking and turned to face me. “You have a friend in London?”
I nodded. “Yeah. I met her years ago at a book signing.”
Raising his brow, Lucas asked, “A book signing?”
“Yes, books,” I said with a chuckle. “You know those things you open and read words out of? They transport you to another place and time and allow an escape? We were in the same online book club and found out we were both attending this huge signing in New York. We spent four days exploring New York City together and became fast friends. I visited her once in London a few years back.”
“Wow, I didn’t know that. Would you like to see her while you’re here?” he asked.
“I’ve thought about it. Maybe once your time on the site is up, we can fly to London and stay for a few days before we fly home.”
Lucas took my hand in his. “I would love that. I’d love to visit a few places while we’re over here.”
“That would be fun. Especially before we have the baby. I have a feeling our traveling days will be limited with a little one.”
“I don’t know, my parents didn’t let kids stop them from traveling. I think we can still do it with the proper planning.”
We walked for a bit longer before I said, “You know, we never did talk about kids. How many do you want?”
Lucas shrugged. “I never really thought about it. I don’t know if I have a magic number. I guess it depends on what we both want. What we feel comfortable with. How about you?”
