“What?” Sarah let out another bubble of something that sounded more like a moan than a laugh. “Don’t be ridiculous.”

My mother crossed her arms over her front and gave my sister a knowing look. “No one has the power to make another person do something they don’t want to do by using magick. You know this better than anyone, Sarah.”

“Mom, are you saying Iwantedto kiss Matt and made myself do it?”

Mom and Lucy exchanged a look. “It sounds to me like it was Matt who wanted it,” Mom said. “He wished it, and you wanted to do it—so there you go.”

Sarah shot her gaze over to me. “Did we use the wrong hair?”

“Wait, I’m so confused. So if Matt wished it and Sarah wanted it, then it made it happen?” I asked.

Lucy nodded. “Clearly, Sarah must have been thinking about someone entirely different when you cast the spell.”

“No, that can’t be! We used Lucas’s hair. Kristin said she got hair from Lucas, not Matt.”

“Wait, Kristin was involved? She wasn’t part of the spell, was she?” Lucy asked.

“Yes,” I state. “Sarah said we needed three witches. It was me, Kristin, and Sarah.”

The moment I spoke the words, the three of them all looked down at my swollen belly.

I took a few steps back and pressed my hand to my stomach. The baby decided to kick at that very moment.

“It was four of you!” Mom exclaimed.

Sarah closed her eyes. “And we used moondust.”

My mother gasped. “Oh my gosh.”

Lucy waved her hands around to get everyone to call down. “Okay, well, let’s not panic until we know what’s happening.”

Mom walked over to the teapot, picked it up, and filled it with water. “I’ll get some tea going. Meanwhile, get Kristin over here. We need to make sure she actually stole Lucas’s hair and not Matt’s.”

I gasped. “Wait, does this mean Matt is…”

My words faded as I looked around at the three women. Mom smiled, Lucy looked worried, and Sarah looked sick to her stomach.

“He hates witches,” Sarah whispered before dropping down into a chair at the breakfast table. “He’s going to kill me.”

Lucas called out to signal he was home, and the five us all jumped up and rushed into the living room. Standing next to Lucas was Matt. He had a strange, dreamy look on his face, and when he saw Sarah, his eyes lit up.

Sarah clutched my arm and whispered, “Oh God! Oh God.”

“What?” I whispered back.

“He wants to do a lot more than kiss!” Sarah stated.

I turned to look at her and smirked. “Well, clearly from your reaction just now, so do you.”

Glaring at me, she pushed me forward until I was standing in front of her.

“Well, if the gang isn’t all here,” Lucas said, dropping his keys in the bowl by the door and giving each of us a pointed look.

“He seems the same,” Kristin said as she slowly shook her head. Then she covered her mouth with her hand. “You have the same color hair as Matt.”

I closed my eyes and moaned. “You had one job, Kristin! One! Job!”

“In my defense,” my best friend said, her hands on her hips, “I was trying to go fast, and I was standing behind him at the time. Look at the two of them. They have the same build! The same hair. It was an honest mistake. Oh, but wait.”
