“Let them. I’m sure a lot of people will call me that. Again, I don’t care. As long as you know and accept that I love you with all my heart, I don’t care what people think, Jessie.”

I threw myself into his arms with a sob.

“Took you a while to get there, Dr Clueless,” I said, and leaned up on my toes to kiss him.

He wrapped his arms around me and kissed me back.

The next day, during Nivy and Veer’s sangeet, Aryan and I took our places on the dance floor and swayed to a slow number that didn’t put any pressure on my poor, abused ankle. Yes, Aryan still hated dancing, but he was willing to make an exception for his sister’s wedding, as long as I was the only woman that he danced with. Personally, I thought it was just an excuse to legitimately cop a feel in front of all our relatives. But I wasn’t complaining. I would have my chance to get even with him later that night when he sneaked into my room after everyone else had gone to bed.

My mother stared at us mistily as we danced, but Aryan’s mother looked like she was about to have a stroke.

“Hain? What’s all this? Why didn’t you tell me that our Aryan has a scene going on with Jayshree Devi, you duffer?” she asked Nivy, her words audible over the music.

I winced at the prospect of my future mother-in-law calling me by my full name.

“Can I call you that in bed?” Aryan whispered in my ear.

“As long as you treat me like a Devi, you can call me whatever you like,” I informed him snottily.

Dr Hottie laughed loudly as he swung me into a deep dip in front of all our loved ones, and just like that, my world was complete.
