“Come on.” He pulled me to the door, and a single employee met us there, opening the door and ushering us inside. But he didn’t stay.

All he did was nod to Jace. “It’s locked, so be ready to leave when you leave.”

“Will do.”

I turned to look at my Alpha. “Are we alone in here?”

He grinned. “Scared?”

“How the fuck did you even get them to do this?”

“I have my ways.”

“Jace—”

Pulling me against his body, Jace kissed me like the world was on fire and we had moments until we burned. I lost myself in everything—the scent and taste of butterscotch and the scratch of his beard. The way his hands slid down to grab my ass and lift me up so I could reach him just a little better, my legs tangling in the long skirt of the dress Addison helped him pick. The way he made sure I was okay even as we crashed against the ticket desk in our passion.

“Damn, baby girl. Keep kissing me like that and we might not actually make it through this place.”

I heaved in air, trying to catch my breath. “You kissed me first.”

Jace laughed, letting me slide down to the floor. “To answer your question, it doesn’t really matter how I did it. All that matters is that I saw the smile on your face in that picture, and I wanted to see it again. And that you realize there’s nothing we won’t do for you to see that smile. Because there’s nothing worse than hearing you cry.”

“When did you hear that?”

“You were in Gabriel’s room. I went to see if you guys needed anything and heard. I’m sorry.”

I shook my head. “That’s not what I meant. I just wasn’t sure.” This time my smile was sadder. “I’ll probably still cry sometimes. Just so you know.”

“Of course you will. We all will. It happens. But we’ll be there to make sure you’re smiling again.”

My whole body flushed from head to toe, filled with an emotion I was afraid to put a name to. It was too soon to feel that. Too fast. Wasn’t it?

Petra and her guys were bonded within a month. Bonded andhappy. Esme was the same. With scent-sympathy, everything was different. It took you to places faster than you ever imagined.

Jace gently bumped my head with his. “What’s that look, baby girl?”

There was no way to explain the thoughts running through my head right now. They were too big and absolutely fucking terrifying. I needed time to sort through them first, because when I said them out loud I wanted it to be perfect. I wanted to feel confident and nothing else.

“Nothing.”

“You sure?” His smile told me he knew I was lying.

“Yeah. I’ll tell you later.”

He kissed my nose. “Okay. Want to see some fish?”

“Yes.”

Which was exactly what we did.

This place was well designed, taking you on a journey from the top of the building with light and shallow water all the way down to the bottom, where darkness reigned and the creatures got weirder and weirder. There were also some cool rooms where you could be immersed on all sides while you looked through the glass at swimming rays. Sharks. Schools of silvery fish that followed each other in crazy patterns.

But it wasn’t my favorite. We both knew what it was.

The jellyfish room.

Smaller and out of the way, but beautiful. A perfect circle that rose well above my head, the tank filled with moon jellies. Pale white jellyfish that were lacy, ethereal, and picked up the colors projected through the tank. The lights shifted from rich blues to reds, purples, pinks, and finally pure white before starting the entire circle over again.
