Her lips popped apart, and it was impossible not to kiss her. The softness of her mouth. Traces of her flavor mixed with mine… God, I would never get tired of it. I could live on it.

“I don’t need that,” she said, voice soft. “I just need the four of you.”

“You don’t need it,” I admitted. “But it’s something you wanted. And if you still do? We’ll make it happen, Sloane. There’s nothing you could ask for that we’d tell you no.”

Rolling her eyes, she snuggled closer. “That is absolutely not true.”

“Well, close to nothing.”

Her breath fanned over my skin, and she kept drawing those little shapes along my ribs. “I do want that,” she finally said quietly. “But I want you more. And if I’m choosing between a ceremony and bonding with the four of you, then I’m choosing you.”

Gathering her close, I smiled into her hair. “That’s the thing, sweetheart. Why would you ever have to choose?”

CHAPTER FORTY-ONE

________

SLOANE

My body curled around something. Something warm that smelled sweet. And purred. Hair scratched my chest, and I realized Jace had wrapped his arms around my ribs, and I was nearly folded over him, his ear pressed to my heart.

Ash still laid near me, his head near mine, holding one of my hands, and warmth lined my back.

Roman sat across the room, near the windows, a sketchpad in his hand and earbuds in, sketching us. His knuckles were wrapped in a bandage. He saw me looking and smiled before looking down at the paper again.

Gabe kept his promise, though clearly I hadn’t woken up.

I squeezed Asher’s hand, and he stirred, his eyes finding mine. “Hey.”

“Hey.” Pressing a little where our heads touched, I kept my voice quiet. “You don’t mind them in your bed?”

Smiling, he shrugged. “Not really. We’ve never had those kinds of worries. It just works.”

It did just work.

Now that it was the morning, I had a question for him. “Would you really kill him?”

“Craig?”

“Yeah.”

Ash pulled my hand to his heart and slipped the other behind my neck. “There’s actually two answers. Considering I just found you again, I really don’t want to go to jail. SowillI kill him? I’m going to try my very best not to.WouldI kill him? Yes.”

That statement shouldn’t warm my heart or make it pound in my chest like I was going down the best rollercoaster in the world. “Because he touched me?”

“Because you’remine.” He reflected my words from the car last night back at me. “And because he didn’t just touch you. He touched you after you told him not to. He threatened you. He scared you.” Ash’s fingers tightened on my neck. “I saw enough fear on your face when I thought I was the one who put it there. No more.”

I tilted my chin just enough, and Ash gave me what I wanted, kissing me as deeply as he could without us crushing Jace. “I don’t want you to go to jail. But watching you do that was really hot.”

“Yeah?” He smirked. “Good to know.”

“Mmm,” Jace turned his face so it was buried in between my breasts. “This is the only way to wake up.” He reached up and gripped my hair at the base, exactly like he had when he gave me that massage. I desperately needed another one. I moaned, and he kept pulling gently until I was limp and relaxed.

A hand squeezed my hip, and lips kissed my naked back. “You okay after last night, little one?”

“When did you guys get back?”

“Not too late. Took about an hour for everything to get settled.”
