Releasing her, I peeled off the suit jacket I wore to the funeral and handed it to her. She’d released our other suits from the nest a couple days after our bonding. “I think your nest might need some replacements.”

She took one look at the jacket in my hand, eyes sparking with desire and instinct that erased the heaviness there. In turn, I felt lighter. My Omega always made me better.

Always.

Sloane snatched the jacket out of my hand and sprinted for the nest, a giggle trailing behind her. By the time we followed, she was already undressed, tucking the jacket in the space only she knew was correct.

We all undressed to give her more of what she needed, and my whole soul settled. No matter what we were going through, this, us together, would always be right, and always be home.

I smiled, watching my precious Omega build her nest.

CHAPTER FIFTY-FIVE

________

SLOANE

“Ihate that it’s already getting too cold for this,” I said, burrowing deeper under the blankets draped over me.

A cold snap had flowed over Slate City, sending us firmly into fall and further. These kinds of temperatures were straight up winter. I hoped it would be a little more mild. I wanted a few more weeks of cute sweaters and leggings before I had to be constantly bundled up in scarves and coats.

The fire burned merrily in the pit, and the heat was nice, but it wasn’t enough.

“We need another inside fireplace,” Gabriel said.

“You already have one.”

He smirked, taking a sip of the drink he held. “I do. And as much as I love every member of this pack, I’d prefer for my bedroom not to become the central hangout of the house. I thought we might turn my office into something more comfortable than the formal rooms downstairs.”

“Wait,” my jaw dropped open. “But you love your office.”

Gabe tilted his head. “Ilikemy office. But I don’t need an office that takes up half a floor, little one. I can still have my desk in a corner. Hell, I’ll make myself a gaming nook that has an extra beanbag for you.”

I liked the sound of that. “I still might want to koala on you.”

Last night I’d climbed into his lap while he played a few rounds of a shooting game, and he purred while his arms moved around me and he played. It was nice.

“You can koala me anytime, little one.”

“Anytime?”

He laughed. “If I’m not on a work call, yes.”

“I can’t koala you during a work call, but you can fuck me during one? Seems fair.”

Jace choked on his drink. “What?”

I sipped my hot chocolate and kept my face neutral. That little detail must have slipped past them. “You’ll have to ask Gabriel about that.”

The other three Alphas looked to him, and he shrugged. “The man wouldn’t wait, and I wasn’t going to stop. Sloane was a good girl and stayed very quiet.”

A shiver ran down my spine, reliving that particular memory.

Roman looked at Gabe from across the fire. “The package came, by the way. I left it in your office on the desk.”

He immediately set his drink on the ground and went into the house. I looked after him. “What package?”

My big, silent Alpha said nothing, a smile on his face.
