“I don’t agree with that,” I whispered. “Ian should know better. When he gave us that speech the day you scented me, it felt doable. He made it believable. But it wouldn’t have been so bad if he’d just pulled it back.”

A thought occurred to me, and I let my brain sort through it to the end before I put it into the air. “How long has that floor thing been scheduled?”

“A while, I guess. Since before I came on board.”

“So… he had to know. Ian knew the rehearsal run would be that short. They advertised it. Sold tickets. He knew, didn’t tell us, and did it anyway.” Gabriel said nothing, but I felt his breathing go slow and even like he was controlling himself. “Is he just that much of a dick? Or am I supposed to think he believed in us that much?”

Gabriel shook his head. “I don’t know. I wish I did. Either way, I’m putting things in place. Ian is the creative director, and that’s what he will be. Everything else he’s going to need fucking approval on.”

That made me feel better. “Thank you.”

“I wish I could go back and make it better.”

Drawing tiny circles on his arm with the tip of my finger, I closed my eyes. “I know. But just like Ash and I can’t go back and fix what happened back then, there’s no going back. We don’t need to. I’m here, and that’s the end of it.” Then, quieter. “I’m not going to let you beat yourself up about it forever.”

“How about just a little longer?” He chuckled.

“A little.” I sat up again so I could see his face. “We might have to go shopping or something before we see my grandmother. Still no clothes, and I don’t think going to my apartment is a good idea.”

His Alpha appeared. “Why?”

“I’ll let them tell you,” I said. “I don’t have the energy.”

“In that case,” he lifted me and turned me around so I faced the screens with him, nestled between his legs.

Gabe was hard against my ass, and I wiggled. “Still?”

“Sloane, don’t count on my cock being soft around you. Ever.”

I blushed. He didn’t know how much those simple words meant to me. Completely aside from the sexual aspect, it was thecompletenessof it. He wanted me and would always want me.

“Claire’s partner Addison was the one who helped with your nest, by the way. A lifesaver.”

“Addie did that? I need to send her some flowers.”

“Mhmm. She pulled everything, then Roman met her and her team here and helped them put everything together.”

I watched as he navigated away from spreadsheets and things that looked like contracts and emails and to a web browser. “I like it so much,” I said.

“We’re going to make sure you like everything about your space here. But I noticed when I looked at Nest, Inc. on my phone that night, they also have some clothes.”

They did. I’d seen them. Because I’d spent more time on the website Gabe was logging into than I wanted to admit. They were known for creating Omega nests, but they had everything under the sun to pamper an Omega. Including comfy clothes that happened to be stylish and adorable.

He set my hand on the mouse and eased himself out from behind me. “Order whatever you want to be delivered in the morning. We already have an account.” I was about to ask if he was sure, and he leaned down to capture my mouth with his. “Whatever you want. It doesn’t even have to be clothes. I’ll be right back. Going to grab some food and find out what you won’t tell me.”

I pressed my lips together, worried about what he would think when he saw everything from Craig. Pulling my phone out, I handed it to him and unlocked it. “You’re going to need that.”

Gabriel looked at me for a few seconds before he took it. “All right. Now go shopping. I want at least five things in your cart before I get back.”

I smirked. That wouldn’t be a problem. Did he have any idea how long my wishlist from this store was? I wasn’t going to order everything on it, but I would definitely get some.

Pulling up my legs into the chair, I went shopping. Leggings and sweaters since it was getting colder in the city, a scarf I’d wanted since the first time I saw it—a gorgeous deep violet in fabric that wasn’t necessarily practical. It was just pretty.

A dress in that same pretty shade, and some more practical clothes. I didn’t go crazy—I had plenty of clothes at my apartment. Moving didn’t mean I needed a whole new wardrobe, and I didn’t want to spend all their money. But I got enough things for a few days, including some pajamas and some shower things, basic makeup, and a pair of boots that nearly had me salivating.

I glanced at the clock. It wasn’t late, but still late enough everything needed to come in the morning. My nap in Roman’s room must have taken a few hours. Double checking the address and the delivery time, I finished the order.

“You could have gotten more.” Gabriel stood at the door, midway through eating a taco.
