“How’s itpossible you’ve grown even more diabolical?” Stitches asks. He’s scratching his head seated opposite me on the terrace.

We’re not alone. A few other men in my inner circle are attending this meeting. Omar, Fabio, and Arturo are privy to this conversation too.

An overview of what’s to come later tonight for our bigfamilydinner.

“Remember,” I say, gripping my whiskey highball but still pointing at the men with my pinky finger. “All of you better be on your fucking best behavior.”

“Yes, Psycho,” the other three echo.

Stitches is still stunned. He takes another second to form his thoughts. “I don’t think he knew what he was getting himself into. He thinks he’s manipulative… but you just might take the cake, Psycho.”

“This is about showing him for what he is. He’s always thought he could force Delphine to see me as he sees me. Today, the tables are turning.”

“But he’s not the outburst type,” Arturo says. “What if it doesn’t work?”

“It will. I will make it work. I’ve driven him to outbursts before. This time it’s about getting him to do it in front of everyone. Most importantly Phi. The Blue Star reveal will be the icing on the cake.”

“I spoke to our computer guy,” Stitches says. “We’ll be able to hack his phone and get into the app and get it to malfunction.”

“Good. Let’s review everything that’ll be going down.”

My men are given the rest of their marching orders and sent off to finish preparations for the evening.

It’s the first dinner party Delphine and I have ever thrown as a couple, let alone a married couple.

Hell, it’s the first dinner party I’ve ever thrown as aperson.

Sit-down dinners and group celebrations aren’t exactly my forte as a man who can’t stand almost all people living and breathing.

The exceptions being Delphine and Dominic.

The rest of the afternoon passes with our staff prepping the estate for guests to arrive. I spend the time with Dominic, playing with my boy, making him giggle and babble. He rolls over like a pro when you set him down on his play mat and loves the way Olive nuzzles him.

Delphine’s out with Medjine and Sasha at the salon. I encouraged her to go, sensing she wanted to, but was still learning how to feel guilt-free about time for herself.

“That’s my boy,” I say. “You’ll be crawling in no time.”

Dominic giggles as he flops over onto his belly. His chunky little arms and legs stretch out, toes and fingers wiggling. He almost looks like he’s about to start swimming on the ground. I laugh and then lay flat on my stomach beside him.

“See, Papa can do it too.”

“Paaa…” he giggles as if trying to imitate me. He tries again. “Gaaa… paaa?”

It’s gibberish to the untrained ear, but I understand my boy—he’s trying to speak. Heisspeaking in his own way.

I reach out and stroke his head of wild, dark curls.

Delphine and I have debated over who he looks more like. I’m starting to think she’s right when she says he resembles me more.

My boy. I’ll give you everything I have. No one will ever mess with you. I’ll slaughter anyone that does.

Spending the afternoon with my boy only ignites a fresh dose of determination inside me.

Ernest Adams is just the latest threat to my family. He has refused to stay away from the two people I love most, despite many warnings. Therefore, I will take him down by any means necessary. He should be glad by the end of today that all I’m doing is humiliating him.

And if today doesn’t work, then I’ll see it as my sign violence really is necessary.
