Gabriel walked around the island to get to the stove. He set the bag of ingredients down and nudged Lily out of the way.

“Hey!”

“Hey, nothing. I brought the food soIcould cook you dinner. You taught tomorrow’s future, so the least I could do is cook a hot meal for you and get you tipsy.” He smirked from the side, causing a pulse to echo from Lily’s damp pussy.

She cleared her dry throat. “And why would you want to do that? Think you’ll get lucky?” she teased as she got the stove and pot ready. She preheated the oven for the bread and turned to face Gabriel, awaiting his reasoning.

He rubbed the back of his neck, looking as if he were trying to find the right words. “Well, no reason. Just maybe to help sway you to want to move forward with surrogacy.”

The water had started to boil, so Gabriel busied himself with the pasta.

A smile involuntarily spread over her face. She kept her eyes on the bread she was preparing. “You want to move forward with me? You’re sure?” she couldn’t help but ask.

“What? Yes, I’m sure. Is that something that would, eh, interest you as well?”

She giggled at the irony of such a dominating man fumbling over himself, trying to seal the deal. Business deal, that is.

“Yes. That would interest me very much.” She looked over her shoulder at him. He was watching her with his striking green eyes. Like the tiger he was, deep inside, stalking his prey. A thrill ran through her body.

“Good. That’s what I was hoping for.”

“As you can see, you didn’t have to get me intoxicated to agree to that. I was already hoping you would like to proceed,” she admitted.

The two moved about in her kitchen skillfully, able to move around one another without getting in each other's way, which was a skill that Lily admired. It was harder than it looked.

“Well, maybe you should have another glass before I say the next part then.”

Her head jerked toward him as he shrugged and offered an apologetic smile.

“What’s the next part?”

Gabriel drained the noodles and mixed them with the makeshift sauce before answering. “I want you to move in with me.” He continued busying himself. Lily took the bread out of the oven, trying to figure out why on Earth he would want that after one date.

Then again, we just agreed to have a baby together after one date. Moving in wouldn’t be a terrible move …

“Can I at least justify why I think you should before you shoot me down?” Gabriel asked, assuming she was on the verge of saying no.

She nodded.

“If you move in with me, it would be easier for me to take care of you and the baby. Just like we talked about over dinner, you would be a part of their life as a full-time mother. I have plenty of room, and you can even teach art at the pride if you prefer.”

They dished out plates and leaned against her counter to eat. Lily’s mind was busy trying to rationalize everything.

“I also want you to know that you would be more than just the mother of my children, especially to me or when it comes to the pride.”

Lily noticed that Gabriel was having a hard time trying to say the next part. Words weren’t proving to be his strong suit today.

“I see us as a partnership. You would be the alpha female in the pride, and that could come with responsibilities I know you can handle. It’s like you being the mother and protector of our pride.”

Lily chose to answer with humor. “What’s left for you then?”

“The defender. Of the pride and you. And most importantly, our children.” Gabriel took an intense interest in eating his meal after his spiel.

He wanted her to move in with him? Already?

The realistic side of Lily told her how big of a deal this was and made her want to question the whole surrogacy thing in general.

She snuck a peek at Gabriel as he tried to politely stuff his face and give her time to think about his offer.
