"Have I tried allying myself with my brothers?"

"What?"

I blinked with confusion. What was he saying? Seeing us, him, and remembering, had given me more insight into this quest than I cared to admit. I knew now that there could only be one. I had even seen Behlial, and the memory of his evil presence wracked my body and mind with more shudders of revulsion.

The brothers hated each other, had been brought up to feel that way. Behlial had fed into their natural competitiveness as Princes of Darkness and used it to fuel their hate.

And then I remembered Seth and him talking. "What did he say to you?"

"He said that he has already allied himself to two of my other brothers, and that they are ready to overthrow Behlial to end this quest."

Fear stabbed me, cold, undiluted fear the likes of which I had never experienced before. "Azazel, he's lying. He's trying to trick you."

Azazel,he'slying. He'strying to trick you.Her words stabbed me like daggers. Her suggestion had crossed my mind, how could it not? I had lived with my brothers for over three hundred years, had been exposed to the same treatment as them, had been fed the same words, had been taught to hate them, just like they had been taught to hate me.

There can only be one, Behlial had assured us many times. He had us chomping at the bit to get to Adama, to end each other. And yet, I also remembered playing with them under Ishtar's watchful eyes, remembered Grigori setting my dislocated shoulder, and Seth even standing up for me once against Behlial. I pushed thoughts of Behlial's punishment for thattransgressionfrom my mind just then. I needed to focus on the good Ishtar taught us.

"According to what you remember, no matter what I do, it ends up the same, right?" I asked Fay, who looked at me through long, wet eyelashes.

Her sigh was answer enough.

"So you see," I cupped her cheek, and she leaned her head into my palm. "Why not take this chance? I'm dead either way." The idea of dying didn't frighten me nearly as much as the idea of losing her. And only the thought of having assured her safety made breathing bearable.

"Don't say it, please," she begged.

I stared into her beautiful, glossy eyes and got lost in them at the thought of her tears being for me. I hated being the cause of her pain and hated Behlial even more for this. "I will bring an end to him, karamia, I swear."

Hope warred with worry on her beautiful face. "Kiss me, Azazel."

How could I not? I gently brushed my lips against hers. Dizziness overcame me as multiple versions of me suddenly appeared like ghosts, overlaying each other, kissing her, kissing multiple hers. Her face swam in front of me as I saw the many different shapes of her overlaying each other.

And suddenly I, too, remembered our previous lifetimes.

"Fay!"

I pulled her close, held her, thankful for not having to witness what it must have felt like for her to lose me.

No more, I swore.I will never do this to her again. No matter the price.

With a desperate moan, her lips moved against mine, and her little tongue darted into my mouth.

"Fay," I groaned against her lips, gently nudging her to her back while my hands roved her beautiful body, reveling at how soft her skin felt. "Fay."

She arched against me, her soft breasts pressing against my chest as my hands cupped her luscious ass and kneaded the yielding flesh.

Her legs opened underneath me, allowing my hand to travel between them to cup her sex, and I was surprised to find it already hot and wet for me.

"Fay."

I gently moved down her body, leaving a trail of kisses on my way to lap at the ambrosia her pussy promised. I trailed my claws between the soft flesh of her thighs, and she quivered. I knew she liked the way my claws felt against her skin.

After our first lovemaking, I had dulled them just for her, afraid to mar her perfect skin.

Her legs parted wider to accommodate my shoulders as I rested between them, gently parting her folds. She was so fucking beautiful it hurt.

And delicious. I didn't think I would ever get enough of her juices that went to my head harder than any liquor.

"You taste so freaking delicious."
