“By your mother.” Brett nods at Kastle.

I swing around. “No.”

“No,” he whispers. And then he bursts out laughing.

“What’s so funny?” Brendon asks Troy.

“Nothing.” I pat Kastle’s shoulder. “Inside joke.”

“They’re so much like Jonas and Nellie,” Amina whispers to Matt.

Venus nudges me with her elbow and teases, “Best friends who date are so annoying.”

“Just tell us already.” Tierra huffs.

“I was supposed to be matched by Make It Marriage.” Kastle shrugs. “I was supposed to meet you tonight and… well, it didn’t quite work out that way.”

“As anybody with two eyes and common sense can tell.” Tierra smirks.

“Did you know about this?” Asia asks Kayla.

“Yes, I did.” Kayla laughs. “But I’m glad we didn’t get that far. We definitely would have failed to get this man to look at any other woman.”

“He looks at Kaelyn the way Grace looks at Zania’s red velvet cupcakes.” Venus rolls her eyes.

“Grace is Brogan’s niece,” Amina quietly explains.

“Ah.” I nod.

Brogan grins. “My niece licks every crumb of that cupcake.”

Kastle laughs. “If that’s what you’re comparing me to then, you're not wrong.”

“Well, whatever the case, I’m grateful for the invitation.” Tierra claps elegant, slender hands that boasts a giant engagement ring. “This is fun.”

“It isn’t usually. But when you have a good friend, it’s the best time.” Kastle gives me a dark, smoldering grin.

I return it with a contented sigh.

He looks devastatingly handsome in his tux that hugs his broad shoulders. The color makes his eyes seem bottomless.

It’s a great suit. Expensive.

And I’m going to tear it off him as soon as possible.

In the distance, I spot Amelia glaring at us from across the room. She tried to make a move with the company, but Kastle thwarted her so hard that she ran away with her tail between her legs.

I know it hurt him to tell his mom ‘no’ and to back it up with such harsh action, but I’m proud of him. He’s standing up for something and I’ll be right here standing with him.

“Want to dance?” Kastle asks, seeing where my eyes have gone.

“Would love to.”

He takes me out on the dance floor and, suddenly, one of my favorite Disney musicals starts to play.

I gasp. “You didn’t.”

“I might have made a few requests.”
