“I’m Kastle’s friend. It’s alright. You won’t get in trouble.”

“No ma’am.” She arches an eyebrow. “But you’re Mr. Jameson’s VIP guest. If anyone’s getting your tea, it’s me.”

“Kastle ordered that?”

“Yes, ma’am.”

“Don’t be ridiculous. It’s just tea. I can—“

She gives me a please don’t make this difficult look.

I sigh. “Fine.”

She brightens. “Thank you for your understanding, ma’am.”

“Gosh. Please don’t call me ma’am.”

She gives me a serene smile. “Tea?”

“Earl Grey?”

“No problem.”

“Thank you!” I call after her.

“It’s no problem, Kaelyn.” She gives me a backward wave.

Kastle’s a great friend, but he goes a little overboard sometimes with the whole ‘I must take care of Kaelyn’ thing.

I see that.

I get that.

And I don’t want to mess it up.

Not with him.

Not ever.

But there has to be a way to convince him we can make this work.

The door to his office opens.

Heath steps out, bringing all the light and sunshine with him.

“Heath!” I rush over.

He accepts my hug with a surprised chuckle and glances down, his gorgeous green eyes filling with amusement. “Kae. Is it just me or did you get taller?”

“Heels.” I tap my feet together and show off my turquoise pumps.

Heath whistles. “Nice.”

“Kae?” Kastle’s eyebrows jump. “You were here? Why didn’t you come in?”

“Just got here.”

The assistant returns. “Here’s your tea, Kaelyn.”
