“It’s right there on the birth certificate.” Kastle dips his chin in somber agreement.

His assistant laughs.

Heath just shakes his head.

“Give Glory this hug for me, Heath.” I wrap my arms around him and squeeze tightly.

“Oof.” Heath shakes his head. “I might crush her.”

“Don’t you dare or I’m coming after you.”

Heath smirks.

Kastle gives his brother a fist bump and a knowing look. “Thanks for coming.”

“Anytime. I hope things work out.”

Kastle nods.

I wonder what he’s talking about but, before I can ask, Kastle slips his hand on the small of my back and ushers me into his office.

My limbs turn to jelly the moment his fingers brush my skin. I can only feel it lightly through my clothes, but if I didn’t have any clothes on…

Stop it, Kae.

Right.

I can’t let my thoughts get into inappropriate territory.

Especially when we’ll be dancing so close to the edge of something real.

I can’t let myself fall over.

Not when it’ll destroy us.

I clear my throat. “I called. Earlier.”

“I know.”

“You ignored me?”

He plants his hands on his hips. “I was thinking.”

“And?”

He nods to a chair.

I fall into it and he sits close beside me. His cologne—something spicy and subtle—washes over me. I will never stop loving how Kastle smells. Like crisp winter and balmy fall all rolled into one.

“I’m in,” he says suddenly, without any preamble.

I almost spit out my tea. “What?”

“Let’s go to the charity gala. Together.”

“And?”

For a moment, I sense his hesitation. He pushes it back and says firmly, “Let’s announce it there.”
