He showed no mercy. He claimed me fully.
Totally.
My body is his now.
Stretched to his length.
Pulsing with his scent.
I should feel trapped.
But I don’t.
I’ve never felt so safe. So completely loved. So broken down to the fine, raw edges of me. I’m not afraid. He can handle it all—my flaws, my imperfections. He wants it all.
How are you going to survive when you go home? Hawk’s ruined you.
I ignore that voice.
Reality can wait a while longer. I just want to bask in this. In him.
If only I could slow down time. Just stretch out this one moment. That would make it so much easier. But ‘easier’ isn’t in the cards. It’ll only get harder from here.
In the light of day, I can see clearly.
Last night was a mistake.
Giving in to him was setting myself up for failure. He’s a powerful ocean and I’m a paper boat. To think I could handle all of him and not be crushed beneath his passion was laughably naïve.
Now his obsession has rubbed off on me.
Rolling over so I’m facing Hawk, I hover a finger over his forehead. Right above the scar where he hit his head during the earthquake. Over both thick eyebrows. Down his straight nose. To his full pink lips.
My fingernail slightly brushes the sensitive skin of his top lip.
Mm.
That mouth…
So beautiful.
So talented.
Capable of sending me into a tailspin of ecstasy.
I hope I get to return the favor once more before I go.
You won’t. Not unless you want things to get even more tangled up.
It’s a good point, but it’s not one I want to hear.
Just then, Hawk’s mouth opens. He sucks the tip of my exploring finger between his lips.
Desire jolts through me.
I smile, bringing my gaze up to meet his. “You’re up?”
He shifts closer until his mouth is just a breath away from me. “Good,” he growls.
