He tosses me a cocky smirk and charges out the door.

“Give me one good reason why I shouldn’t end you both today,” I say calmly, sitting at the head of the table in the dining room and tapping my fingers on the wooden surface.
Fitz turns red.
Barclay clears his throat. “We didn’t know you were with Shanel—”
“A good reason, Barc.”
Barclay chomps down on his bottom lip.
I glare at them both, wondering if I should just throw them out now. Their intrusion cost me time with Shanel.
The last thing I wanted to do was leave that room.
It’s strange. I woke up this morning and caught Speedy looking at me the way all men want their women to look at them—with admiration, desire and confidence.
I was powerless against her charms.
My body wanted her all over again despite how exhaustively I’d explored her last night.
I sensed she wanted the same.
But, when she emerged from the bathroom, there was a change in her. A distance in her eyes. A hesitation I wanted to destroy immediately.
And I was doing a hell of a job.
Until my friends’ unexpected arrival.
Even now, they’re keeping me away from her. She’ll have more time to think useless thoughts. To second-guess. To doubt my intentions.
No matter.
When I get rid of these two and return upstairs, I’ll unravel all her worries slowly.
One by one.
If I have to spend every waking moment obliterating her fear and pumping my love into her until she embraces who she is to me, I will. There is no part of me that seeks any other woman and an eternity with Shanel won’t be enough.
Soft footsteps descend the stairs.
“Morning, guys,” Shanel says.
I watch her as she steps gracefully into the room. Her hair is in that small bun again, exposing all of her stunning face. My shirt—that’s far too big for her slender frame—falls softly against her curves and the yoga pants hug her lush thighs.
I remember raking my fingers through her curly hair.
Claiming that soft mouth.
Rolling those pants off.
Being face-deep in those thighs.
