Sarziroch’s nightlife is precisely what one might expect from a city filled with demons and xaphan. It’s the perfect key to unlocking the wild side of even the most holier-than-thou individual.

Even now as I make my way to the bar where I’m meeting Vylco and his friend, I walk past a totally innocent-looking human woman, her face petite, young, and full of life and brightness. At the same time, she’s snorting a powder off of a table while two demons fondle her body, all for the public eye to see in the middle of the streets.

As busy as they are with their plaything, they still find themselves distracted at the sight of me walking by.

“Oi! You there in the sexy red dress, want to get in on the action?”

Ignoring them, I continue onwards. It seems as though my attire of choice has all the men and women glancing over their shoulders at me. My red dress hugs my figure tightly, displaying a more than generous view of my décolletage, and stops just below my knees.

Maybe I shouldn’t have worn this,I think to myself, but others ogling at me is nothing I’m not used to. Regardless, the amount of attention I’m getting from men and women alike serves only as a strange reminder that I’m going to be meeting a man I just met today, as well as a stranger.

I make the final turn onto the street where the bar is located, and it is there where I am hit with second thoughts. Why the fuck am I even doing this?

I stop short at the entrance, debating whether or not to step inside.Maybe they haven’t arrived yet. I could turn right around and head back home.

I barely know the man I’m meeting here. For all I know, this is some sort of trap. Women are under a constant threat here in Aerasak, especially human women. I shiver at the thought of being trafficked.

“Fuck it,” I mutter. “I can handle myself anyway. Should anyone decide to mess with me, I’ll just have to shake off the rust and fuck them up.”

I draw myself up and enter the bar, figuring I may as well kick back and have a good time. The bar is packed with almost every table being occupied. Behind the counter, bartenders rush to and fro with drinks in hand while angry patrons slam their fists on the bar.

A demonic, dark red ambiance is cast from glowing red orbs that sit in the corners of the walls, nestled like yillese. I run my eyes over the place, scanning the area for a sign of my newfound friend in Vylco. A hand shoots up in the air. I spot him just a few steps away, seated at a table.

I forget how to breathe for a moment when his friend turns around.Holy shit, if that’s not the hottest man I’ve ever seen on Aerasak…

As I float over, I marvel at the demon’s features. He almost blends into the environment around him with his red skin, but it’s his two magnificent horns that steal the show, twirling as they climb into the air.

One side of his shoulder-length black hair is tucked behind his ear, revealing a display of piercings. Another piercing curls around his septum. He stands, looming above me as I walk up to him.

“Elia, it’s my pleasure to meet you,” he greets, his deep voice drowning out all other sounds in the room. “My name is Azron, Azron Magthollith.”

How does he know my name?I think to myself as my knees become weak.

“Elia! Glad you could make it, have a seat,” chimes Vylco. For a moment, I forgot he was here. “Shall we get a drink? The first round is on me.”

He dashes off to the counter, leaving me and this fiery demon alone.

“I was wondering if you would show up,” says Azron, glancing at the vanishing Vylco before turning to face me. “He’s been on about you all day, saying he couldn’t wait for us to meet each other.”

“Did he?” I giggle.

“Indeed, I can see why,” he says, his jaw clenching as his fluorescent green eyes hold mine captive.

I force myself to look elsewhere, fearing I’ll give away my attraction if I return his intensity. If not for the red lighting in here, Azron would have seen just how much I’m blushing, to the point where our skin is the same color.

In a minute, Vylco returns with a round of shots and an ale for each of us.

“I hope my friend here isn’t too intimidating,” he chuckles. “He’s not quite… the approachable type.”

“He’s been very pleasant,” I tell Vylco, sneaking a glance at Azron who I catch looking at me.

A few minutes later, it is I who is coming to the table, having purchased the second round for all of us. As I pass a drink to Azron, he reaches out for it, our fingers brushing against each other’s. Against the icy coldness of the pint, his warm fingers are like a gentle kiss.

I take a quiet deep breath to calm myself off, the heat inside my body riling up as I return to my seat. Sitting down, I suddenly notice that my chair is closer now to Azron.Did he move it nearer to him when I was at the bar?

“You were saying before you left that you work at the local bakery?” asks Azron.

“Yeah, the work itself is fine, it pays the bills. My boss, though, he’s a creep. I’ve lost track of how many times he’s tried coming on to me.”
