Fuck. I’m not sure I’m prepared for this. Hammer doesn’t have an off switch. In fact, he doesn’t even have a slowdown switch. He’s fun, but he’s always full throttle and never says no to anything. Nights out with him start with beers in his frat house but they can end anywhere, days later.

“Well, start hydrating bud, because we’re in for a big one.” Kobe fist bumps me and leaves the shop.

Sassy wanders back over to the counter and leans against it, smirking at me. “I’d take his advice on the hydration. Hammer’s a bit of a legend around campus for his wild nights.”

“You know him?”

“Our paths have crossed once or twice.” She pushes herself off the counter and walks over to the drinks fridge. Grabbing a Gatorade, she comes back and puts it down in front of me. “You’ll need this.”

I shrug and crack the bottle open. She’s not wrong. I take a swig.

“You’re gonna get eaten alive tonight.” She states in a matter-of-fact tone.

“What do you mean?” I replace the lid on the bottle.

“You just don’t strike me as the type who can keep up with Hammer.”

“Oh yeah? What type do you have me pegged for, then?”

“A lightweight.”

I cough out a laugh. “I’m no lightweight.”

Sassy raises an eyebrow, clearly not believing me.

“Baby, I could drink you under the table any time.” I promise, cocking an eyebrow back at her.

She folds her arms across her chest and I wonder if she knows that the motion pushes her breasts up, enhancing her cleavage. Something tells me she always knows exactly what she’s doing.

“We’ll see.” She says.

“We’ll see?”

“Yeah. If you survive tonight, we’ll see if you can survive me.”

I swallow.

“You’re on.” I say, hoping that it’s a promise.

Chapter6

Colt

“1… 2 … 3 … go!” I take the shot, grimacing as the liquid burns its way down my throat. The boys holler as they slam their shot glasses down on the bar. I wonder how long it will be until they kick us out. Grabbing our chaser beers, we make our way to an empty table.

“Relax, man,” Devon nudges my shoulder as we take a seat.

“I am,” I grumble back. He knows it’s a lie. I’m tense because I don’t want to be here.

“I still don’t get why you hate strip clubs,” Kobe pipes up from my other side. “What’s not to love? Beer and titties. It’s heaven.”

I shake my head at him. “If a girl gets naked for me, I don’t want it to be because I’m paying her to do it.”

“Lame. Who cares if they’re being paid? Just appreciate the fine ass.”

“The dirty old men sitting around with boners doesn’t help the situation either.” I avoid eye contact with the various geriatrics dotted around the place.

“Don’t look at them,” Devon suggests, and a topless waitress catches his eye. “We’re not here for the audience. We’re here for the entertainment.”
