“I obtained a preview of her post—”

I arched an eyebrow. “Obtained?”

He wore a dark expression. “Don’t ask.”

I held up a hand. “Okay. I won’t. But what did the review say? Judging from your expression, it wasn’t glowing.”

“Fuck no.” He leaned against the leather banquette, draping his arm over the back. “It never is. It’s like she has a personal vendetta against me or something.”

“I’m sure it’s nothing personal,” I said. Graham rarely got worked up. He was passionate about the brand, but still… “She’s one blogger. One of many.”

“You don’t get it.” He took a big swig of his drink. “She’s not justoneblogger, she’stheblogger. Her site is synonymous with luxury travel. Everyone looks to Lily for recommendations, and she can make or break a business.”

“Surely that’s a bit—”

“No.” He leaned forward, resting his elbows on his thighs. “It’s not.”

“Okay, so…” I took another swig, putting my back to Jasper and Nate. They each had their arms draped around two women. “You said the review hasn’t been posted yet, right?”

“Right.”

“Which means there’s still time to change her mind.”

He frowned, little lines forming between his brows. “She posts anonymously. No one knows who she is.”

“Yet you ‘obtained,’” I said, using air quotes, “a preview of an unpublished post.”

“Yes, but…”

“Surely with all the money and resources at your disposal, you can discover this woman’s identity.”

“I don’t know,” he hedged. “It feels like I’d be breaking some unspoken code.”

I couldn’t help it; I laughed. “I think it’s a little too late for that, don’t you?”

“Is it too late to leave?” he asked, eyeing Jasper and Nate and their new friends warily as they approached.

“Probably,” I said. “You know what’s going to happen next, right?”

He glowered. We both knew what was coming. I counted down from three on my fingers. And just as I curled the final digit into my palm, one of the girls said, “Oh my god. This is my song. I’m dying to dance.”

Graham went back to sulking, burying his head in his phone.

“Knox,” Nate said, clapping a hand on my shoulder. “You heard the lady.”

When I didn’t move to get up, he tightened his grip on my shoulder. He leaned down and spoke low into my ear. “Come on. She’s practically begging you to fuck her.”

I rolled my eyes. I was too old for this shit. And I didn’t get why my brother and cousin felt it necessary to try to be my wingmen.

I wasn’t interested in a night of meaningless sex. And even if I had been, I sure as hell didn’t need a wingman.

I thought back on the last few women I’d dated… We hadn’t clicked. They’d struggled to understand the demands on my time. They’d wanted more than I could give.

“Come on,” Jasper said. “It’s just a dance.”

With a heavy sigh, I stood, not wanting to be rude. Graham remained where he was, unwilling to budge. I downed the rest of my drink and set my glass on the table before allowing one of the women to lead me to the dance floor. She was gorgeous, but I wasn’t interested.

There was only one woman I wanted, but I couldn’t have her. And even if I could, she’d never be interested in me.
